What we’re about
I've created this debate group to welcome all topics of debate, discussion and dissection - hopefully on a weekly basis online.
We are being pulled further apart, from left to right, up and down, woke vs anti-woke, lefty snowflakes and fascist-like language. (not my words).
The idea behind this isn't to come along and 'win'. It's put across how you feel, have an open mind, and hopefully learn something.
I want to create an environment where it's okay to be wrong. For me this is key to progressing.
I'm not quite sure what the format will be yet but we will adapt as we go along.
Ignorance is welcome but hate is not. We will discuss very sensitive topics and questions and assumptions; even the negative ones can be discussed. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but be prepared to back it up.
I am gay, but if you want to come along and argue that gay marriage shouldn't be allowed, that doesn't involve being hateful toward that group, that is allowed - just as it's allowed in the opinion section of the New York Times.
