BiCon UK 2025 (Nottingham, +online/hybrid sessions) £

Details
BiCon is the UK's national bisexual convention/conference, with parties and fun social events alongside the workshops, talks, discussions and academic sessions. It's organised by bi+ people like you, for the community.
It's a weekend-long educational and social gathering for Bi+ people, their friends, partners, and others with a supportive interest in bisexuality with plenty of opportunities to hang out, chat, and meet lots of other bi+ people from around the country (and further afield).
This year it's in Nottingham, non-residential again (no on-site accommodation), just up the hill from where 2023's BiCon was. Nottinghamshire Pride is also on the Saturday of BiCon (a community-based event rather than commercial).
The main social is on Friday this time (due limited venue access on Saturday). Further details updated bit by bit on the website, where you can also get tickets.
⚫ Online Sessions:
Looks like being on two of the days (maybe Friday+Sunday), with a room available for hybrid sessions.
More details (check back later as it's updated): 2025.bicon.org.uk/online-bicon/
⚫ Help Needed:
Please book tickets ahead of the event if you can (earlier the better), which helps them with funding and to plan for numbers attending.
You can help too - offer to run a session, help manage the venue & set up / take down things at the start & end, promote it beforehand, or running the welcome desk on the day(s).
Each year's organising team is selected from the offered proposals (a different team every year, though previous BiCon organiser experience is expected among them) and they decide where to host it.
⚫ Rules / Training:
No anti-racism training is available this year; it was required for a few years but the dialled-back ones of the last few have not implemented it. The updated code of conduct still applies.
IMPORTANT: The code of conduct changed since 2022; you're required to follow it whether you read it or not:
2025.bicon.org.uk/home/code-of-conduct/
Conference tickets are available up til, and on, the weekend.
⚫ Entertainment:
??? yet - TBD
⚫ Tickets:
Tickets give day/weekend access to workshops and socials. Pricing is on a sliding-scale by your income, using extremely similar price-bands to 2024's event; 7 bands ranging from £15 for a single day pass up to £65 for the full weekend if you're flush/an organisation is paying you to attend.
Get your tickets now to help fund the event, at:
2025.bicon.org.uk/book/
(where you can also offer to run a session, or email them later to do so).
Please be honest and if you can contribute more please do so - it's an expensive event to put on, break-even average was £29 in 2024 for a 2-day event at a smaller venue than usual. If they collect more money in early bookings, more can go towards hiring space/support costs/the Friday entertainment (or e.g. provided food). Volunteers are running this at their own time and effort cost.
⚫ Accessibility/Travel:
Access info page at the Bicon website: 2025.bicon.org.uk/access/
Getting there: .../getting-there/
There is an accessible toilet and a lift to any upper floors where some sessions might be.
They have invited attendees to bring food to share, as per the BiFest tradition (please label it regarding ingredients and allergens).
You can attend just the sessions you want (usually a few are limited to people with particular identities).
There is no charge for bringing children but there is no on-site child care.
BiCon Continuity (charity managing legal responsibilities of running BiCon) and the organising team are committed to making the event accessible. There is no known BSL signing provision this year.
BiCon also have a Discord server to text-chat all things Bicon and for a community of previous attendees — John G. can send you an invite on request (comment below/direct-message him).
The old DMP session is now called BiCon Decides.
⚫ Weekend Tips:
Useful tips, especially if its your first BiCon, from a regular:
◾ Don't try to do everything. Take breaks to eat/rest/sleep/recharge [especially if attending in-person, but back-to-back video calls can also be tiring]
◾ If relevant, try to book the following day off from work/your usual activities. It can be really jarring to jump from BiCon to the rest of life without transition time. Though YMMV - some people are fine with faster transitions between different spaces.
◾ It can also be good to plan attending another bi event after, for if you're missing the bi acceptance energy after such an intense weekend of it (or to talk about it all; also see the Discord)
