Get ready for an evening of the bisexual variety!
CaBiRet is back again (its 14th time in London) with an evening of bisexual cabaret. This show is again also part of Wandsworth Arts Fringe, and in the same venue as 2023 & 24 - just a couple of minutes walk from the tube/train station. Words, music, and magic! Already a fan from past shows? Get your free tickets via the Fringe website (link below); if undecided there's also more details below!
Your host is bisexual activist magician Marcus Morgan (well known and respected in the Bi community for decades - see BisexualIndex, and a member of the magic circle), with several (5-ish) more acts to enthral and entertain you over a range of genres. Comedy, music, drag, burlesque, spoken-word (e.g. poetry/story), and a little magic!
- SJ Wyatt
- Chase Bush
- Queer as an Aro
- Lauren Murphy
Plus surprise guests! Some acts return from 2024's show (Aro, SJ), but also as usual some new unseen (here) talent.
There's usually a collection for bisexual community causes (the acts are paid out of a Patreon you can also support) so do consider keeping something for a donation on the evening, after all Marcus' and the performers' efforts.
⚫ Tickets:
Free ticket via fringe site - RSVPing on this meetup event won't count (but I'd hope you'll be allowed in if they're not overwhelmed). Signing up at Fringe site shows interest and helps them manage seating/bar expectations, so please do.
⚫ Accessibility / Travel:
♿The venue is wheelchair accessible, ground floor, with an accessible toilet. It is in a pub on the junction of Balham Station Road and Bedford Hill, next to the railway bridge.
🚉Balham train station is on the line to Victoria via Clapham Junction and has a 🛗 lift to platforms 1 & 2 (the main platforms, lines towards Victoria/Sutton/Croydon/London Bridge) after a slope from the ticket barriers (step-free access; staff-operated platform ramp). Platform 3/4 is used during engineering works and is not step-free.
🚇Balham underground is on the Northern Line (Morden branch), part of the same building as the mainline station, with an escalator from platform to ticket hall level then (sadly only) steps to street level.
🚌Busses - the 249, 155, 355 stop on the main road (A24) at Hildreth Street Market. The 315 to Norwood goes past the pub from station/main road but its next stop past the railway bridge is almost as far from the pub as the main road is (and that bus is only every 20-30mins) - the 315's station bus stop (terminus) is much closer to the pub (but if you walk from the station to that stop, you're not far from the pub anyway, just keep going and cross the road, you can see the pub from the station).
Venue website: thebedford.com (don't confuse with other Bedford Arms). The pub is dog-friendly in its bar area and al fresco Yard (they even provide water bowls and doggie treats if you beg nicely), but please keep them on a lead.
⚫ More Info:
Timeout bar review: [the Bedford Arms] "has the best Sunday roast in the area". Joe Lycett and Ed Sheeran have played there.
