Mood Indigo Events Autumn 2025 Piano Series - Week 1: Terence Collie

Details
## An intimate journey into the heart of solo piano
Following the resounding success of our inaugural year, the MIE Jazz Piano Series returns for its second season - this time as the Autumn 2025 Jazz Piano Series. Set once again in the enchanting surroundings of the 1901 Arts Club in Waterloo, this series invites you to experience the art of solo jazz piano like never before.
This year, we welcome the internationally acclaimed virtuoso Gwilym Simcock, the evocative, genre-defying Alcyona Mick and the richly expressive Terence Collie. Each artist will perform an intimate solo set, exploring the full sonic potential of the Club’s magnificent Steinway Model C grand piano - all within the warm, salon-style ambience of this beautifully restored Edwardian building.
With only a limited number of seats available, every concert promises a deeply personal connection between artist and audience - a rare opportunity to witness these outstanding musicians up close, immersed in their craft. Whether you're a lifelong jazz enthusiast or a curious newcomer, the Autumn 2025 Jazz Piano Series offers a spellbinding journey into the soul of the music.
Join us this autumn for an unforgettable celebration of creativity, virtuosity, and the timeless allure of solo piano.
## Terence Collie
Acclaimed pianist and composer Terence Collie brings his signature blend of lyrical sensitivity, harmonic sophistication and jazz-rooted imagination to a special solo performance at 1901 this September. Known for his dynamic versatility across solo, trio, and larger ensemble settings, Collie’s artistry has earned him a respected place on the UK jazz scene, captivating audiences with both his original works and fresh interpretations of classic standards.
Following the recent release of his celebrated album Elements, this solo concert offers a rare opportunity to experience his unaccompanied, intimate musical voice, where every nuance and subtlety is bare.
Beyond his performances, Collie is a vital force in the British jazz community. He is not only a prolific performer but also a mentor, organiser and advocate for the music, frequently curating and supporting jazz events across the country.
At 1901, Collie will present a programme that spans new original compositions, selections from Elements, reinterpretations of pieces from his previous albums Reminiscent and 384,400 and spontaneous improvisations crafted in the moment. The evening promises an immersive journey into the heart of a pianist who continues to shape his own narrative while honouring the great traditions of the art form.
