What we’re about
LoMAZ is a friendly, diverse and inclusive group of people who enjoy visiting museums, bookended by a trip to a café and a pub. Our events are run by a group of volunteers who maintain a full calendar catering to a wide range of tastes and interests. The group is for people in the age brackets of Generation X, Xennials and Millennials (born 1965-1996). If you like history, exploring places and meeting people, please come along.
How does LoMAZ work?
Events:
For each event, we meet in a nearby café 30-45 minutes earlier. We then go to the museum/exhibition, where you are free to wander around at your own pace. Afterwards, we head to a nearby pub for a social chit-chat. The café and pub social are optional, so it’s fine if you just prefer to join us for the museum visit.
Each event listing will give you all the details, plus an event WhatsApp group you can join to help you find the group.
Tickets:
If a museum/exhibition has an entry fee, you’ll need to buy your own ticket. Each event will tell you whether you need to buy this in advance and provide the ticket link.
Event attendee limit:
LoMAZ has an attendee limit per event because we prefer a smaller, friendlier group where members can get to know each other. It also helps the host manage the event and organise the pub bookings.
If an event is full, you'll be added to the waitlist. If a space becomes available, waitlisted members are automatically moved into the ‘Going’ list in order of priority.
Rules & Etiquette:
To ensure everyone gets a fair chance, we ask that you observe these points of etiquette:
- If you can no longer attend an event, please change your RSVP to "No" as soon as possible. This frees up a space for someone on the waitlist.
- Only attend if you're on the ‘Going’ list. Do not turn up if you are on the waitlist.
- Only join the event WhatsApp group if you are on the ‘Going’ list, not the waitlist.
We remove members from the LoMAZ Meetup group who:
- RSVP as ‘Going' but then do not show up three times in a row.
- RSVP as ‘Going' but then change their RSVP to 'No' five times in a row.
- Turn up at an event without being on the 'going' list (i.e. members who have not signed up or are on the waitlist).
Our group is committed to creating a respectful and safe inclusive environment for all members. Any form of discrimination, harassment, or disrespectful behaviour will not be tolerated.
Best wishes,
The Admin Team

See all- F is for... The Face Magazine: Culture Shift @ National Portrait GalleryNATIONAL PORTRAIT GALLERY, London
"5 Stars: Rebellious fashion photography with a raucous sense of fun. The style monthly was loud, left-field and unabashedly British. The 200 images from 80 photographers on show reflect its furious energy and explosive creative couplings." The Guardian
Join us at the National Portrait Gallery for The Face Magazine: Culture Shift exhibition...
The Face Magazine: Culture Shift celebrates iconic fashion images and portraits from The Face, a trail-blazing youth culture and style magazine that has shaped the creative and cultural landscape in Britain and beyond. From 1980 to 2004, The Face played a vital role in creating contemporary culture. Musicians featured on its covers achieved global success and the models it championed – including a young Kate Moss – became the most recognisable faces of their time. The magazine also launched the careers of many leading photographers and fashion stylists, who were given the creative freedom to radically reimagine the visual language of fashion photography and define the spirit of their times. Relaunched in 2019, the magazine continues to provide a disruptive and creative space for image-makers, championing fresh talent in photography, fashion, music and graphic design.
This exhibition brings together the work of over 80 photographers, including Sheila Rock, Stéphane Sednaoui, Corinne Day, David Sims, Elaine Constantine and Sølve Sundsbø, and features over 200 photographs – a unique opportunity to see many of these images away from the magazine page for the first time.
