What we’re about
LoMAZ is a friendly, diverse and inclusive group of people who enjoy visiting museums, bookended by a trip to a café and a pub. The group is for Gen X and Millennials who were born in the years 1965-1996. If you like history, exploring places and meeting people, please come along.
Our events are run by a group of volunteers who maintain a full calendar catering to a wide range of tastes and interest. Our events include:
- Our regular museum events, which have an attendee limit as we prefer smaller, friendlier groups where people can get to know each other.
- Our monthly 'Unlimited' museum events where we have no attendee limit and we explore just one room in a museum, followed by a pub social.
- Our monthly 'Lates For Dates' museum event, which - unlike our other events - is for singles only. This is typically on the last Friday of the month and has no attendee limit. It is a mixed orientation event for straight and LGBTQI+ singles born between 1965-1996.
How does LoMAZ work?
Our regular museum events:
For each event, we meet in a nearby café 30-45 minutes earlier. We then go to the museum/exhibition, where you are free to wander around at your own pace. Afterwards, we head to a nearby pub for a social chit-chat. The café and pub social are optional, so it’s fine if you just prefer to join us for the museum visit.
Each event listing will give you all the details, plus an event WhatsApp group you can join to help you find the group.
Tickets:
If a museum/exhibition has an entry fee, you’ll need to buy your own ticket. Each event will tell you whether you need to buy this in advance and provide the ticket link.
Event attendee limit:
Our regular LoMAZ events have an attendee limit per event because we prefer a smaller, friendlier group where members can get to know each other. It also helps the host manage the event and organise the pub bookings.
If an event is full, you'll be added to the waitlist. If someone drops out, waitlisted members are automatically moved into the ‘Going’ list in order of priority.
Rules & Etiquette:
To ensure everyone gets a fair chance, we ask that you observe these points of etiquette:
- If you can no longer attend an event, please change your RSVP to "No" as soon as possible. This frees up a space for someone on the waitlist.
- Only attend if you're on the ‘Going’ list. Do not turn up if you are on the waitlist.
- Only join the event WhatsApp group if you are on the ‘Going’ list, not the waitlist.
We remove members from the LoMAZ Meetup group who:
- RSVP as ‘Going' but then do not show up three times in a row.
- RSVP as ‘Going' but then change their RSVP to 'No' five times in a row.
- Turn up at an event without being on the 'going' list (i.e. members who have not signed up or are on the waitlist).
Our group is committed to creating a respectful and safe inclusive environment for all members. Any form of discrimination, harassment, or disrespectful behaviour will not be tolerated.
Respectful Communication Rule:
To maintain a safe and welcoming environment for everyone, members must not send excessive or unsolicited private messages—especially to people they haven’t met in person at an event. This includes repeated messages without a response or contacting multiple members in a short period. If we receive reports of such behaviour, it may lead to a warning or immediate removal from the group, depending on the severity. Our goal is to ensure all members feel comfortable and respected.
Best wishes,
The Admin Team

V is for... Viktor Wynd Museum of Curiosities
The Viktor Wynd Museum of Curiosities, 11 Mare Street, E84RP, GBThere are no tickets available at the museum! Sorry, this means the event is closed to new rsvp's.
Although it is a bit late for Halloween, join us for some strangeness (followed by some spooky fun, if you join the Ghosts, Ghouls & Murder Tour later in the day, which you can book here).
Viktor Wynd Museum of Curiosities
First with the strange...a visit to the Viktor Wynd Museum of Curiosities. It is difficult to summarise what to expect (I think after even having visited it may be a challenge to describe), so please refer to the website here, and scroll down to About the Museum to get a feel.- The museum is very small, and the limit at any time is ten people.
- Therefore please can you book yourself a ticket (£13.03) to enter the museum at 215pm here ,and confirm you have done so on your RSVP.
- If your answers on rsvp do not confirm you have a ticket, you may be moved to a waiting list to allow others to get tickets, before they are possibly sold out.
- You can message me to confirm once you have a ticket. :)
After this, we'll head to a pub near Embankment tube station to drink/eat/recover. Then, if you have signed up for it here, float to towards Cleopatra's Needle which is where the Ghosts, Ghouls & Murder Tour starts (lasts for 2 hours).
(The reason why the pub is likely to be near Embankment tube station, is to accommodate those also attending the ghost walk in the evening and hopefully most can make that leg of the day too!).

C is for... Cecil Beaton's Fashionable World @ National Portrait Gallery
NATIONAL PORTRAIT GALLERY, St Martin's Place WC2H 0HE, London, GB"The truly fashionable are beyond fashion." (Cecil Beaton)
Join us at the National Portrait Gallery for the 'Cecil Beaton's Fashionable World' exhibition...
Cecil Beaton – ‘The King of Vogue’ – was an extraordinary force in the 20th-century British and American creative scenes. Renowned as a fashion illustrator, Oscar-winning costume designer, social caricaturist and writer, Beaton elevated fashion and portrait photography into an art form.
Cecil Beaton’s Fashionable World is the first exhibition dedicated solely to Beaton’s ground-breaking contributions to fashion and portrait photography. The exhibition showcases Beaton at his most triumphant – from the Jazz Age and the Bright Young Things, to the high fashion brilliance of the fifties and the glittering, Oscar-winning success of My Fair Lady. Via London, Paris, New York and Hollywood, his era-defining photographs captured beauty, glamour, and star power in the interwar and early post-war eras.
With over 200 items displayed, including photographs, letters, portrait sketches, fashion illustration and costume, Cecil Beaton’s Fashionable World features portraits of some of the twentieth century’s most iconic figures, including Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor and Marlon Brando; Queen Elizabeth II and Princess Margaret; as well as Lucian Freud, Francis Bacon and Salvador Dalí.
