What we’re about
LoMAZ is a friendly, diverse and inclusive group of people who enjoy visiting museums, bookended by a trip to a café and a pub. The group is for Gen X and Millennials who were born in the years 1965-1996. If you like history, exploring places and meeting people, please come along.
Our events are run by a group of volunteers who maintain a full calendar catering to a wide range of tastes and interest. Our events include:
- Our regular museum events, which have an attendee limit as we prefer smaller, friendlier groups where people can get to know each other.
- Our monthly 'Unlimited' museum events where we have no attendee limit and we explore just one room in a museum, followed by a pub social.
- Our monthly 'Lates For Dates' museum event, which - unlike our other events - is for singles only. This is typically on the last Friday of the month and has no attendee limit. It is a mixed orientation event for straight and LGBTQI+ singles born between 1965-1996.
How does LoMAZ work?
Our regular museum events:
For each event, we meet in a nearby café 30-45 minutes earlier. We then go to the museum/exhibition, where you are free to wander around at your own pace. Afterwards, we head to a nearby pub for a social chit-chat. The café and pub social are optional, so it’s fine if you just prefer to join us for the museum visit.
Each event listing will give you all the details, plus an event WhatsApp group you can join to help you find the group.
Tickets:
If a museum/exhibition has an entry fee, you’ll need to buy your own ticket. Each event will tell you whether you need to buy this in advance and provide the ticket link.
Event attendee limit:
Our regular LoMAZ events have an attendee limit per event because we prefer a smaller, friendlier group where members can get to know each other. It also helps the host manage the event and organise the pub bookings.
If an event is full, you'll be added to the waitlist. If someone drops out, waitlisted members are automatically moved into the ‘Going’ list in order of priority.
Rules & Etiquette:
To ensure everyone gets a fair chance, we ask that you observe these points of etiquette:
- If you can no longer attend an event, please change your RSVP to "No" as soon as possible. This frees up a space for someone on the waitlist.
- Only attend if you're on the ‘Going’ list. Do not turn up if you are on the waitlist.
- Only join the event WhatsApp group if you are on the ‘Going’ list, not the waitlist.
We remove members from the LoMAZ Meetup group who:
- RSVP as ‘Going' but then do not show up three times in a row.
- RSVP as ‘Going' but then change their RSVP to 'No' five times in a row.
- Turn up at an event without being on the 'going' list (i.e. members who have not signed up or are on the waitlist).
Our group is committed to creating a respectful and safe inclusive environment for all members. Any form of discrimination, harassment, or disrespectful behaviour will not be tolerated.
Respectful Communication Rule:
To maintain a safe and welcoming environment for everyone, members must not send excessive or unsolicited private messages—especially to people they haven’t met in person at an event. This includes repeated messages without a response or contacting multiple members in a short period. If we receive reports of such behaviour, it may lead to a warning or immediate removal from the group, depending on the severity. Our goal is to ensure all members feel comfortable and respected.
Best wishes,
The Admin Team

Established in the late 19th century as a collection of art treasures worthy of the capital city, the Guildhall Art Gallery soon lived up to this ambition, with exhibitions that featured world famous masterpieces and works by some great artists. Within this, the Gallery endeavours to acquire works of art and run public programmes which are representative of all Londoners, and to be an art gallery about London for London.

- A is for Apothecaries’ HallApothecaries Hall,, London
Join us at the Apothecaries’ Hall the oldest surviving livery company building - as part of Operation House Festival, for a self guided tour. A rare weekend free access:
The Apothecaries' retail pharmacy, which had been located on the northern side of the COURTYARD, gained a separate entrance on Water Lane (now Black Friars Lane) in 1823. Its steps and wrought-iron railings are still evident. The COLONNADE in the courtyard where the main door, surmounted by the Society's Arms, is now located was enclosed in 1929. The ENTRANCE HALL features the main STAIRCASE of three flights, constructed in 1670.
On the first floor the PARLOUR displays the Society's apothecaries' drug jars and pill tiles. The COURT ROOM is completely panelled in oak in a style similar to that in the Great Hall. The room is dominated by two large stained glass windows, one depicting the Society's Coat of Arms, the other the Stuart Royal Arms. Amongst the portraits is that of Gideon de Laune, Royal Apothecary to Anne of Denmark and founder of the Society.
The Irish oak panelling by Robert Burges and Roger Davies in the GREAT HALL dates from 1671.There is a carved screen with coupled fluted Corinthian columns at the south end of the room and a minstrels' gallery with an elegant wrought-iron balustrade at the north end. The windows on the east and west sides of the Hall contain stained glass Coats of Arms of Past Masters and former Officers of the Society, and portraits hang on the walls.Click on this link for more info about the Venue

- LoMAZ goes to Warsaw!Muzeum Narodowe w Warszawie, Warsaw
LoMAZ is going abroad again at the end of September 2025. Come and join us for a weekend break to Warsaw, Poland!
There is a lot to see and do! Some things to do in Warsaw can be read about here: Warsaw Tripadvisor
This is NOT a planned excursion and guided tour. People will book their own flights and their own accommodation.
Your hosts intend to be there for a minimum of 3 days from Friday 26th September to Sunday 28th afternoon so please aim to join us for those dates specifically the Friday & Saturday. However you can extend your time either side of this weekend if you would like to and you are free to arrive and leave whenever you want to.
Suggestions can be made in the event WhatsApp group of what to see and people can go and do what they would like to. The WhatsApp group can also be used to co-ordinate and figure out best travel plans.
We will not all be doing the same thing and people may want to go and do something on their own too.
We shall freestyle Warsaw together and it would be lovely if you could make it!
GETTING THERE:
Planes: There is more than one airline to get to Warsaw, but the main options seem to be British Airways and Ryanair. A good place to start is Skyscanner.
The two airports are Warsaw Chopin Airport (10km from City Centre) and Warsaw Modlin Airport (40km from City Centre).ACCOMMODATION:
There are various hotels, hostels and airbnbs to stay in while you are in Warsaw, so you will need to book your own accommodation in or around the city. Some accommodation sites are booking.com and airbnb.
To confirm the hosts are staying in the Sródmiescie (Downtown) area in Airbnbs:
WHATSAPP GROUP FOR PRE-TRIP CHAT:
