About us
London Museums A-Z (LoMAZ) is a friendly, diverse, and inclusive group of people who enjoy visiting museums and exhibitions, bookended by a trip to a café and a pub. The group is for Gen X and Millennials who were born in the years 1965–1996. Our volunteer hosts run a full calendar catering to a variety of tastes and interests. If you love history, culture, exploring places, and meeting people, please come along!
How does LoMAZ work?
It's free to come along to LoMAZ events. If a museum or exhibition has an entry fee, you'll need to buy your own ticket. Each event listing will tell you whether you need to buy it in advance and provide a link.
For each event, we meet and greet in a nearby café. LoMAZ hosts will be wearing badges and there will be a LoMAZ sign on the table. We then go to the museum or exhibition, where you're free to wander around at your own pace. Afterwards, we head to a nearby pub for a chat over a drink. The café and pub socials are optional, so it’s fine if you just prefer to join us for the museum visit.
Each event listing will give you all the details, plus a link to an event WhatsApp group you can join to help you find the group on the day.
Event capacities
LoMAZ was founded to create a friendly, welcoming community. We keep our regular events small so members can make genuine connections - as well as comfortably fit into a nearby pub afterwards!
We have two types of events which have no attendee limits:
- LoMAZ Unlimited: Single-room gallery visits followed by a pub social.
- Museum Lates for Dates: Our dedicated singles nights which, unlike our regular events, are for singles only.
RSVPs and etiquette
As some of our events have attendee limits, to keep our community considerate for both members and hosts, we ask that you keep a few guidelines in mind:
- Free up your spot: If you sign up to an event but can no longer make it, please switch your RSVP to 'No' as soon as possible so another member can sign up.
- The 'no-show' policy: Members who repeatedly sign up but don't show up will unfortunately be removed from the group.
- Last-minute changes: Try to avoid a pattern of backing out of events after signing up, as that makes planning difficult and may affect your membership.
- RSVP required: Please don't show up if you are still on the waitlist or haven't RSVP'd, as we won't have space for you.
Our community values
To keep our group a welcoming place for all, we ask that everyone treats each other with kindness. We have a zero-tolerance policy for harassment, discrimination, or disrespectful behaviour of any kind.
The legal bit
Please remember that everyone attends LoMAZ events at their own risk. By signing up, you accept full responsibility for your own safety and well-being. You also agree that LoMAZ and our volunteer hosts are not legally or financially liable for any injury, damage, or loss that may happen during an event.
Finally, we recommend that you have Meetup message notifications turned on, so we can reach you if you're on an event waitlist and a space opens up.

Hever Castle at Christmas: Castle + Festive Lights + Hever Church Concert

This church is where the Boleyn family worshipped, and where Anne Boleyn's father Thomas Boleyn and her baby brother Henry Boleyn are buried.

St Peter's Church is at the entrance to Hever Castle.
TRAIN:
- Direct train from London Bridge (also stopping at East Croydon) to Hever Station.
- It's then a one-mile rural walk to the church and castle. (Map of walk from station to castle). As you leave the platform you will see a map on your left to guide you to Hever Castle, or you can look out for red and white wooden posts.
CAR: On-site parking is free.

LoMAZ Away Weekend: Dublin's Bram Stoker Festival

Bram Stoker, creator of Dracula, was from Dublin - so it makes perfect sense to see the city where he lived and studied alongside Oscar Wilde, in Trinity College, in the city centre. What's more, we're heading over for the weekend of the Bram Stoker Festival!
Dublin City Council Bram Stoker Festival celebrates the legacy of one of Ireland’s most beloved and iconic writers and is now one of Dublin’s largest arts festivals. The festival draws inspiration from Stoker, his life, his work, the Dublin of his time and celebrates the Gothic, the supernatural, the after-dark and the Victorian. We’ve presented outdoor spectacles and intimate experiences, world film premieres and award-winning theatre productions; circus at night in dark forests; comedy in nightclubs; choral ensembles in darkened libraries and events spanning every genre.
We’ve taken over cathedrals, parks and squares; delved into Stoker’s literary impact, and entertained generations of little monsters with discos, workshops, face-painting, performances and more at Stokerland and beyond.
A programme of events is expected to be published towards the end of September, but it's recommended to book flights and accommodation before that.
Dublin City Council Bram Stoker Festival is produced by Schweppe Curtis Nunn Ltd.
This trip to Dublin is NOT a planned excursion and guided tour. People will book their own transport and their own accommodation.
The official LoMAZ days will be:
Friday 23 October - Monday 26 October.You can extend your time either side of this weekend if you would like to and you are free to arrive and leave whenever you want to. It's a short flight, and you are welcome just to come for part of the weekend.
Suggestions will be made in the event WhatsApp group of what to see and people can go and do what they would like to.

We will not all be doing the same thing and people may want to go and do something on their own too.
GETTING THERE:
Plane: Several airlines fly between Dublin and all the London airports - it should be easy to find a suitable flight, and prices are consequently not high. Your host is flying with Ryanair, to/from Gatwick, outbound on Thursday 22 October and back on Tuesday 27th October. Prices for these flights are currently available starting at approx. £50 return.ACCOMMODATION:
There are various hotels, hostels and airbnbs to stay in while you are in Dublin, so you will need to book your own accommodation in the city.Some accommodation sites are booking.com and Lastminute.

MUSEUM LATES FOR DATES: Straight & LGBTQIA+ singles night | British Museum + pub
The British Museum, Great Russell Street, London, GBA fresh take on dating for straight and LGBTQIA+ singles in their 30s, 40s and 50s, brought to you by LoMAZ. We visit the British Museum once a month for their Friday late opening, before heading to the pub.
Join us for a relaxed evening of conversation and connections. It's just like a usual LoMAZ event except for one thing: everyone there will be single.
Come for friendship, come for dates, come along!
HOW DOES IT WORK?
6.00 - 7.00pm: MEET AND GREET IN GAIA FOOD & DRINKS (OPPOSITE THE MAIN MUSEUM ENTRANCE).
Gaia Food & Drinks, 62 Great Russell St, WC1B 3BG. Map. We will then go to the museum*Look out for LoMAZ hosts wearing a 'host' sticker in a yellow frame and they will welcome you.
- You can choose to wear a LoMAZ logo sticker (indicating you are straight) or a LoMAZ rainbow sticker (indicating you are LGBTQIA+), or you can wear both stickers. Wearing stickers means everyone can see who is part of the group and helps you find us as we move around the museum. If you see someone with a LoMAZ sticker, feel free to chat to each other.
- About a third of the people signed up actually attend, so expect a group of about 40 to 50 people.
7.15-8.00pm: EXPLORE THE MUSEUM
*We will explore the museum together. This month we are visiting the Parthenon Sculptures in Rooms 18, 18a and 18b.8:00pm: MEET TO WALK TO THE PUB- We will meet under the stone columned canopy outside the main entrance, to the side of the doors at the top of the steps (Great Russell Street entrance).
8:15pm - late: PUB SOCIAL: We will then go to a nearby pub. Please see the event comments on the evening of where we are going to.

About George
George is co-founder and creative director of Connection With Wonder.
He runs “South East London Folklore Society” a series of packed-out monthly talks on a variety of magical subjects. For children, he tells stories with a focus on inclusion and child-led interaction. Music is the heart of his creative life. His songwriting credits include ten solo albums and several top ten hits. His musical project for Crossways Community centre was performed at The Globe Theatre. Since 2020, he has worked on an ongoing story-into-song project with Romani storyteller Richard O’ Neill MBE and University of Sunderland. In 2024, he received a grant from the Arts Council to develop his classical scoring. In 2026, his first album, Leisure Noise, was re pressed and re-released
About Vanessa
Vanessa’s trailblazing story performances for adults have led to a partnership with Time Out London, a TEDx talk in Stormont NI and many TV /radio performances. She’s co-founder and lead storyteller of Connection With Wonder . Her C.V. includes ground-breaking collaborations with dozens of major museums, cultural institutions, publishers, film makers, artists, academics, scientists and unique individuals. She’s even had a school classroom named after her! She is programmer and host of Space for Storytelling, a free professional training provision in central London.MEET DETAILS:

LoMAZ Extra: Hallowe'en at the Museum
Natural History Museum, Cromwell Rd, South Kensington, London SW7 5BD, UK, London, GBCelebrate the spookiest night of the year among skeletons and specimens.
Following last year’s sellout event, Hallowe'en at the Museum will be back again and better than ever. A live band will perform in the hallowed halls, there'll be a silent disco and a host of ghostly activities. Expect a frightful night of spine-tingling entertainment, unforgettable encounters and eerie surprises.
Regular tickets include:- An immersive evening where you can explore the galleries among Vampiric Lords and Ladies. Discover the dark secrets of their bloodline when invited by the great Vampiric Council to attend the wedding of their leader.
- speak with vampiric musicians, who’ll play haunting ballads between tales of their lives and legends
- enjoy a vampire evening reception as an honoured guest, but don’t wander too deeply, else you might encounter some scary, uninvited ones
- dress as a member of the Dark Vampiric Council and blend seamlessly into the gathering as the sinister ceremony unfolds
- A silent disco in the Earth Hall.
- The chance to chat with scientists about their spooky specimens.
- After-hours access to the galleries and exhibitions.
