About us
LoMAZ is a friendly, diverse, and inclusive group of people who enjoy visiting museums and exhibitions, bookended by a trip to a café and a pub. The group is for Gen X and Millennials who were born in the years 1965–1996. Our volunteer hosts run a full calendar catering to a variety of tastes and interests. If you love history, culture, exploring places, and meeting people, please come along!
How does LoMAZ work?
It's free to come along to LoMAZ events. If a museum or exhibition has an entry fee, you'll need to buy your own ticket. Each event listing will tell you whether you need to buy it in advance and provide a link.
For each event, we meet and greet in a nearby café. LoMAZ hosts will be wearing badges and there will be a LoMAZ sign on the table. We then go to the museum or exhibition, where you're free to wander around at your own pace. Afterwards, we head to a nearby pub for a chat over a drink. The café and pub socials are optional, so it’s fine if you just prefer to join us for the museum visit.
Each event listing will give you all the details, plus a link to an event WhatsApp group you can join to help you find the group on the day.
Event capacities
LoMAZ was founded to create a friendly, welcoming community. We keep our regular events small so members can make genuine connections - as well as comfortably fit into a nearby pub afterwards!
We also have two types of events which have no attendee limits:
- LoMAZ Unlimited: Single-room gallery visits followed by a pub social.
- Museum Lates for Dates: Our dedicated singles nights which, unlike our regular events, are for singles only.
RSVPs and etiquette
To keep our community considerate for both members and hosts, we ask that you keep a few guidelines in mind:
- Free up your spot: If you can no longer make it, please switch your RSVP to 'No' as soon as possible so another member can sign up.
- The 'no-show' policy: Members who regularly sign up but don't show up will unfortunately be removed from the group.
- Last-minute changes: Try to avoid a pattern of backing out of events after signing up, as that makes planning difficult and may affect your membership.
- RSVP required: Please don't show up if you are still on the waitlist or haven't RSVP'd, as we won't have space for you.
Our community values
To keep our group a welcoming place for all, we ask that everyone treats each other with kindness. We have a zero-tolerance policy for harassment, discrimination, or disrespectful behaviour of any kind.
The legal bit
Please remember that everyone attends LoMAZ events at their own risk. By signing up, you accept full responsibility for your own safety and well-being. You also agree that LoMAZ and our volunteer hosts are not legally or financially liable for any injury, damage, or loss that may happen during an event.

LoMAZ on Tour to Slovenia!
LJUBLJANA, TABOR 9, 1000 LJUBLJANA, SLOVENIA, SILoMAZ is going on Tour in the middle of September 2026. Come and join us for a weekend break to Ljubljana, Slovenia!

This is NOT a planned excursion and guided tour. People will book their own flights and their own accommodation.
Your hosts intend to be there for a minimum of 3 days from Friday 18th September to Sunday 20th September afternoon so please aim to join us for those dates specifically the Friday & Saturday. However you can extend your time either side of this weekend if you would like to and you are free to arrive and leave whenever you want to. Your hosts may be there before or after the above dates.
The aim will be to spend 1 day in Ljubljana city and then 1 day going to visit Lake Bled.
The official LoMAZ days will be:
Friday 18th & Saturday 19th of September.Suggestions will be made in the event WhatsApp group of what to see and people can go and do what they would like to. The WhatsApp group can also be used to co-ordinate and figure out best travel plans.
We will not all be doing the same thing and people may want to go and do something on their own too.
GETTING THERE:
Planes: There is more than one airline to get to Ljubljana, but the main options seem to be British Airways and Easyjet. A good place to start is Skyscanner.The main airport is Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport (24km from City Centre). You could also fly to Zagreb Airport and catch the train from there if you are extending your stay.
Recommendation is to fly to Zagreb on Thursday 17th and travel from there to Ljubljana if prices are quite high to LJ. The hosts will be travelling from Zagreb on that day.
ACCOMMODATION:
There are various hotels, hostels and airbnbs to stay in while you are in Ljubljana, so you will need to book your own accommodation in or around the city.Some accommodation sites are booking.com and airbnb.
Hosts are staying near Ljubljana station or Mackova Ulica 1000 Ljubljana.

LoMAZ events are run by volunteers and no money is made off of our events.- If you can no longer attend, please change your RSVP as soon as possible.
- Members on the 'going list' who do not change their RSVP to 'no' and do not show up 3 times in a row will be removed from the group.
- If you're on the waitlist, you will automatically be moved to the 'going' list if space becomes available. Please do not attend if you aren't on the 'going list'.

B is for Bat Walk on Streatham Common - a free guided trail
Rookery Cafe, 37 Streatham Common, SW16 3BZ, London, GBIn September, Professor Van Helsing confirms to the group that vampires have the power to transform into a bat.
With that in mind, come with us to learn more about the mystery of bats, with hopefully some sightings and sounds, on a bat walk on Streatham Common on Friday, 18th September 2026.
The walk is organised by the charitable group “Friends of Streatham” and is led by Dr Iain Boulton from Lambeth Council. The walk will last approximately one hour, during which time Dr Boulton will tell us more about these fascinating creatures and how they are such important pollinators for the Common.
Bat detectors will be available, to give us the best chance of hearing what might be flying above us.
Bring a torch and meet by the Rookery Café to start the walk at 7.25pm.

MUSEUM LATES FOR DATES: Straight & LGBTQIA+ singles night | British Museum + pub
The British Museum, Great Russell Street, London, GBA fresh take on dating for straight and LGBTQIA+ singles in their 30s, 40s and 50s, brought to you by LoMAZ. We visit a museum on the last Friday of each month, before heading to the pub.
In September, join us for a relaxed evening of conversation and connections at the British Museum. It's just like a usual LoMAZ event except for one thing: everyone there will be single.
Come for friendship, come for dates, come along!
HOW DOES IT WORK?
6.30 - 7.00pm: MEET AND GREET IN GAIA FOOD & DRINKS (OPPOSITE THE MAIN MUSEUM ENTRANCE).
Gaia Food & Drinks, 62 Great Russell St, WC1B 3BG. Map. We will then go to the museum*Look out for LoMAZ hosts wearing a 'host' sticker in a yellow frame and they will welcome you.
- You can choose to wear a LoMAZ logo sticker (indicating you are straight) or a LoMAZ rainbow sticker (indicating you are LGBTQIA+), or you can wear both stickers. Wearing stickers means everyone can see who is part of the group and helps you find us as we move around the museum. If you see someone with a LoMAZ sticker, feel free to chat to each other.
