SATIRE, SPRINGTIME AND A STATELY HOME!

  • Join us for a double-bill of blooms and bawdiness!
  • First, visit the home of 18th century cartoonist and satirist William Hogarth.
  • Then, wander the grounds of Chiswick House, Britain's first landscape garden.
  • Finally, have afternoon tea in the beautiful Chiswick House Cafe.
  • IMPORTANT: Hogarth's House and the Chiswick House Gardens are free to enter and don't require pre-booking. However Chiswick House itself does require a ticket. See below for booking details.

12 noon: PRE-MEET (optional)

Arcane Coffee, 42 Devonshire Rd, Chiswick, London W4 2HD
Optionally meet before for coffee and chats. Arcane Coffee is en route between Turnham Green tube (7 mins walk) and Hogarth's House (10 mins walk).

12.50pm: MEET OUTSIDE HOGARTH'S HOUSE

We will meet on the pavement outside the gate of Hogarth's House.
Hogarth's House is free to enter and doesn't require pre-booking.

1pm: ENTER HOGARTH'S HOUSE

The group will head into Hogarth's House and walk around.

2pm: WALK TO CHISWICK HOUSE AND GARDENS

Reconvene at the same spot outside then at 2pm we will walk over to Chiswick House and Gardens, approximately 3 mins away.

  • Wander around the gardens at your leisure.
  • The weather will be hot so bring water and stay hydrated!
  • The gardens of Chiswick House are free to enter and don't require a ticket. The house itself does require a ticket. See below for details.

2.30pm: ENTER CHISWICK HOUSE

For those who want to go inside Chiswick House, you can pay on the door but we recommend booking a ticket for the 2.30pm slot. We estimate about one hour to wander the house, but take as long as you want.

3.30pm: GATHER AT CHISWICK HOUSE CAFE

We'll reconvene on the lawn outside the Chiswick House Cafe from approximately 3.30pm. Whether you visit both house and garden, or just the garden, there is no rush. Just rejoin us here anytime from 3.30pm.
Bring a picnic blanket and drinks or snacks for yourself.

BY TUBE: Turnham Green (District Line) is 20 minutes walk.
BY TRAIN: Chiswick (South West Trains) is 25 minutes walk.
BY BUS: 190 or 533 bus to Burlington Lane, about 5 minutes walk.
BY BIKE: Cycle parking is available onsite.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

  • LoMAZ events are run by volunteers. We have an attendee limit to help the host manage the event. We prefer a smaller, friendlier group.
  • If the event is sold out, Meetup adds you to the Waitlist. If someone drops out, waitlisted attendees are automatically moved to the 'Going' list by Meetup in order of priority.
  • If you can no longer attend, please change your RSVP to 'Not Going' as soon as possible. This lets someone on the waitlist take your place.

We remove members from the LoMAZ Meetup group who:

  • RSVP as ‘Going' but then do not show up three times in a row.
  • RSVP as ‘Going' but then change their RSVP to 'No' five times in a row.
