Hampstead Heath Walk: Social Status, Agnes Callard

Details

For this Hampstead Heath walk we'll be discussing social status - inspired by the work of philosopher Agnes Callard. We have a special guest organiser for this one: thanks to Max for leading this walk and preparing the notes.

This walk is based on blog posts by philosopher Agnes Callard. Please
read the following before you come (~5-10 minutes):

Who Wants to Play the Status Game:
https://thepointmag.com/examined-life/who-wants-to-play-the-status-game-agnes-callard/

And optionally, read the following two:

Spoiled Rich Kids:
https://thepointmag.com/examined-life/spoiled-rich-kids-agnes-callard/

Is Philosophy Fight Club:
https://thepointmag.com/examined-life/is-philosophy-fight-club-agnes-callard/

Note that this is a walking discussion group with discussion questions,
not a lecture or guided tour.

Ground rules:
- Please be on time, we will not wait and it will be hard to find us in
the park if you are late
- No dogs
- Please keep all discussion friendly and constructive and be
respectful of other attendees.

Other essential information:
- Hampstead Heath gets very muddy if it has been raining so wear
appropriate shoes and clothes you don't mind getting muddy.
- The walk will go ahead no matter the weather so do dress
appropriately and bring an umbrella if needed.

Since philosophy is inseparable from the human experience, we welcome
all perspectives, including science, history, psychology, personal
anecdotes, and your own experiences and expertise.
