Code Quality in the AI Age - panel discussion at Trainline

We are delighted to announce a special LSCC Meetup on Wednesday May 15th with our friends from Codurance, CodeScene and Trainline where we will bring a panel of experts together to discuss how GenAI tools are impacting developer productivity, separate the hype from the reality and understand how software engineers can prepare for whats next.

This event is being held at Trainline's office at 120 Holborn. We thank the Trainline team for hosting us and providing drinks and pizza for the attendees.

We’ll kick off the evening with a talk by Adam Tornhill, Founder of CodeScene who will set the scene with a talk on the short and long term implications of using AI assistants based on extensive research analysing over 100K AI refactorings in real-world codebases.

That’ll be followed by a panel discussion where host Maciej Kowalski, Principal Craftsperson from Codurance will bring together Adam Tornhill, plus LSCC and Codurance co-Founder Sandro Mancuso and VP Engineering at Trainline Jean-Marie Ferdegue who will discuss a range of related topics including:

• If and how humans can keep up with the pace of AI coding - and what the implications could mean
• Code quality for humans and machines
• Using quality metrics as AI guardrails
• How AI can help understand existing code
• How the role of the software engineer might adapt in the future
• How AI can augment and empower humans rather than replacing them

We’ll have Q&A throughout so if you have any questions or comments there will be ample opportunity to contribute and get involved.
