- 'Shakespeare & his London' Guided WalkLondon Bridge Tube Station (come out via the Tooley Street exit & we will be across the road), London£7.00
Come along on Saturday 16th August at 1:30pm for a guided walk on William Shakespeare and the London he lived in!
About the walk
William Shakespeare (born 1564 in Stratford-upon-Avon) came to London in around 1592 and stayed until 1613. He wrote 38 plays, 154 sonnets and 2 long narrative poems before retiring back to Stratford.Today he is widely regarded as the greatest writer in the English language. He is the most quoted writer in the history of the English speaking world and many of his quotations have passed into everyday usage. His plays have been translated into every major language and are performed more often than those of any other playwright.
But, we know so very little about him and his life. There is not a confirmed drawing or painting of him created during his lifetime or even a confirmed description of what he looked like. There are also quite a lot of mysteries and unanswered questions surrounding his life, which we are unlikely to ever find the answers to.
Due to the Great Fire of 1666, World War II bombing and a clear out of the slums in London during the 1920’s and 30’s, there is very little that remains of Shakespeare’s London, but there are some things!
During the walk I will tell you about him and how he changed the English language, his friends, contemporaries, his influences and what life in London was like in the late Elizabethan period.
The guided walk will be led by myself.
The walk takes about 2 hours and finishes near St Paul's.

- Thames Foreshore Visit - WappingWapping Overground Station (outside the station), London£7.00
Running through the heart of London; the River Thames has played a central role in the history of the city, and when the tide is low, the capital’s longest archaeological site is revealed.
Come along on Sunday 17th August to explore its history!
About the foreshore
I will be your guide as we will be going down to the Thames foreshore at low tide, where we will have about 1h 30mins to have a look around for objects before the tide comes in.I will tell you more about foreshore, the industry in the area and will be on hand to identify and date objects you find. Most objects you can spot sitting on the foreshore after being washed in on the tide (its eyes only, we are not allowed to dig or scrape the foreshore surface).
You will find everything from bits of pottery, clay pipes, bottles, animal bones to ship items. Most of the things we find are from the Medieval to the Victorian period or you might be lucky and find something Roman or older.
The Thames Foreshore is private land, so before we go down, I will give everyone a short talk on health & safety on the foreshore.
Please be early or on time, I can't accommodate you if you are late!

- Day trip by coach - two villages & a town in the Cotswolds! (NOW FULL)Coach bays on Tothill Street (nearest tube: St James's Park), London£26.00
THE TRIP IS NOW FULL, IF YOU WISH TO ATTEND, ADD YOURSELF TO THE WAITING LIST AND I WILL CONTACT YOU IF A PLACE BECOMES AVAILABLE.
Come along on Saturday 23rd August for a coach trip to visit two villages and a town in the Cotswolds.
About the day
The Cotswolds are a range of rolling hills in south central England about 25 miles wide and 90 miles long. The Cotswolds were declared an area of outstanding natural beauty in 1966.We will be visiting two villages and a small town, all very pretty with houses made of local stone, old churches with streams and all on the edge of the surrounding countryside.
All the places are close to each other, but we will use the coach to move between them.
We are travelling by coach to:
Broadway
At the heart of the Cotswolds lies the quaint, picture-postcard village of Broadway and is sometimes referred to as the "Jewel of the Cotswolds". The "broad way" is the wide grass-fringed main street, centred on the Green, which is lined with red chestnut trees and honey-coloured Cotswold limestone buildings, many dating from the 16th century.Blockley
One of the larger Cotswold villages and largely unspoilt, Blockley was a main centre of the silk industry in the 18th and 19th centuries with the silk mills using the waters of the brook which runs through the centre of the village. Blockley was regularly featured in the television series of Father Brown: the late Norman church, St Peter and St Paul's, was used as the fictional St Mary's Church and the vicarage as Father Brown's residence.Stow-on-the-Wold
At nearly 800ft above sea level, Stow-on-the-Wold is the highest of the Cotswold towns. Its located on the Roman Fosse Way and at the point where several roads meet. The Market Square is large and impressive and testifies to the town’s former importance. It is surrounded by town houses, independent shops, antique centres, cosy cafes and inns all built in the mellow local stone,Coach seating
