Come along on Saturday 1st November for a guided tour around the Old Bailey!
About the tour
The Central Criminal Court of England and Wales, known the world over as the 'Old Bailey', is opening its doors to the public for out of hours guided tours.
It is the most famous court house in the world and the highest court in the UK. The court has been housed in a succession of buildings on the street since at least the 1600's, when it was attached to the medieval Newgate Prison.
From the 1100s until 1902, the site was notorious Newgate Prison, and a place of execution. The last public hanging there was in 1868 and the last one behind its firmly closed doors in 1902.
The iconic ‘Old Bailey’ is an ornate building packed with secrets, history, famous trials, unexpected artworks and is also a busy, working building during the week.
We have a guided tour of the building with City of London guides and it will last about 2 hours.
