Visit the Foundling Museum!
Details
Come along on Saturday 29th November to visit the Foundling Museum!
About the museum
The Foundling Museum tells the story of the Foundling Hospital, Britain's first home for abandoned children.
The museum examines the work of the Foundling Hospital's founder Thomas Coram (1668 - 1751), a philanthropist who campaigned for 17 years before he received a Royal Charter from King George II to found the hospital.
It also tells the story of two benefactors of the hospital - the artist William Hogarth and the composer George Frideric Handel. There are many paintings of Hogarth's in the museum and it also has the world's greatest privately amassed collection of Handel memorabilia.
It also illustrates how the Foundling Hospital's charity work for children still carries on today through the child care organisation Coram.
The visit is self-guiding.
