Come along on Saturday 17th January for a tour of John Wesley's chapel and the house he lived in!

About the tour
We will be having a guided tour of John Wesley's chapel near Old Street. The chapel was opened in 1778 under the direction of Wesley. The architect was George Dance the Younger, a famous 18th century architect and today it is Grade I listed. We will also tour around the house Wesley lived in for the last 12 years of his life, which is next door.

After the tour, we will be able to visit the museum in the crypt

About John Wesley & Methodism
John Wesley (1703 - 1791), was a cleric, theologian and evangelist. He was a leader of a revival movement known as Methodism. He started Methodism after having a relgious awakening on 24th May 1738 at nearby Aldersgate Street.

Methodism sought to reform the Church of England from within. The movement, however, became separate from its parent body and developed into an autonomous church.

The societies he founded became the dominant form of the independent Methodist movement that continues to this day.
