OPENING TO J.O.Y. Weekly classes in Bioenergetic Alchemy™ Body-Mind Integration Each week, we teach a Bioenergetic Alchemy™ ( sequence using the 4 elements, (Earth, Water, Fire and Air) as a map. Week 1 Earth - Grounding and Trauma Release ( Week 2 Water - Boundaries and Opening to Feeling ( Week 3 Fire - Vitality, Power & Assertiveness ( Week 4 Air - an introduction to Bioenergetic Breathwork ( Cost: £70 for all 4 classes/ £20 per class When: Friday 7-8:30pm (Please arrive on time) Where: The Pirate Castle, 33 Oval Rd, Camden Town, London NW1 7EA (5 minutes from Camden Tube) Things to bring: loose, comfortable clothes suitable for Yoga or Tai Chi & water bottle. Interview with Alexander Lowen, founder of Bioenergetics where he talks about the body-mind split - From Joy, by Alexander Lowen Joy, the surrender to the body and to life by Alexander Lowen Bioenergetic is based on the concept that a person is a unitary being and that what happens in the mind must also be happening in the body. Thus, if a person is depressed with thoughts of despair, helplessness and failure, his body will manifest a similar depressed attitude, evident in decreased impulse formation, reduced mobility and restricted breathing. All bodily functions will be depressed, including metabolism, resulting in lowered energy production. Of course, the mind can influence the body just as the body affects the mind. It is possible in some cases to improve one’s bodily functioning through a change in one’s mental attitude, but any change so induced will be temporary unless the underlying bodily processes are significantly changed. On the other hand, directly improving bodily functions such as breathing, moving, feeling and self-expression has an immediate and lasting effect on one’s mental attitude. In the final analysis, increasing a person’s energy is the fundamental change which the therapeutic process must produce if it is to reach its goal of freeing an individual from the restrictions of his past and the inhibitions of the present. What we're about

London Active Meditations Group is for those of us who are interested in inner personal growth and spiritual self-development and includes:

- Unique Active Meditations designed to bring a new quality of ease to our busy, pressured lifestyle. These meditations often focus on the body to release tension so that we can relax more deeply into our essence.

- Experiential Self-Development workshops held once or twice a month such as: Trauma Release work, Bioenergetics, Inner Personal Power and Tantra.

- Meditations, Dance Events and Socials in the Parks and Forests around London - These events are held during the warmer months in the beauty of Nature.

Active Meditations are the synergy of movement and meditation and offer an accessible approach to quietening the mind via the use of specific movements, which can include shaking, breathing, jumping, catharsis, dancing and whirling before entering a space of stillness and silence. As with all meditation, the aim is to allow the mind to be quiet and go beyond the mind to access the deeper parts of yourself.
