What we’re about

Like to sing but not religious? Are you based in or near London? Free on Tuesday evenings?
Then this is the choir for you! London Humanist Choir is the UK's foremost secular choir and a branch of the charity Humanists UK. We're a mixed-ability, non-auditioned group and aspire to high musical standards.

Our singers are of all ages and walks of life with a love of music and a humanist outlook in common. We sing to celebrate the joy and pain of living. We learn from each other, and when we get it right, we make a wonderful noise.

If you have sung for years or want to give it a go, come along to one of our rehearsals on Tuesdays near St Pancras! The first two rehearsals are free. Full details can be found at https://london.humanistchoir.org/join/

How big is the choir?
We always have more people singing than it says on Meetup. We aim to have thirty at each rehearsal. We have regular people and people who return when things get less busy for them. We're always open to new singers.

Origins
LHC was set up in May 2009 with a legacy dedicated to the composition of humanist songs and a choir to sing them. We have since performed in London and around the UK at humanist events, stand-up comedy gigs, private parties, our concerts, and on the street. We've made several recordings and videos and once performed at an international concert in Norway with a fellow humanist choir!

Rehearsals
We rehearse on Tuesdays between 7pm and 9pm in central London.

Performances
Our rehearsals are geared towards regular performances small and large. During the early phase of the pandemic, we produced several videos of our music, which you can find on YouTube.

Humanists UK
Humanists UK is a national charity working for non-religious people who seek to live ethical and fulfilling lives based on reason and humanity. The choir is an active part of Humanists UK. You don't have to be a member to sing with us, but most of us are. Find out more about humanism at www.humanism.org.uk
