* NOW FULLY BOOKED *
Join us for an inspiring evening with internationally acclaimed jazz guitarist Agostino Di Giorgio, as he shares his insights into the art of classic jazz guitar.
New York-raised, Augustino Di Giorgio studied and worked with legendary guitarist Chuck Wayne from 1987 until Wayne's death in 1995, and is the author of two volumes of books published by Hal Leonard setting out Wayne's distinctive approach to picking, arpeggios and scales. He continues to share and develop Wayne's pioneering approaches.
He was also mentored by the legendary bebop pianist and educator Barry Harris.
After moving to Europe, he became active as both performer and teacher, mentoring younger musicians—most notably the Italian guitarist Pasquale Grasso, who began studying with Di Giorgio during his formative years.
In 1996 and 1997, Di Giorgio was recognised for his talent in Italy by winning the guitar category of the Premio Internazionale Massimo Urbani competition.
As an educator, Di Giorgio’s teaching style reflects the bebop and post-bebop traditions he absorbed from Chuck Wayne, adapted for the guitar and passed on to a new generation of jazz musicians.
