Dark Dramatic Studio Lighting

Tonight we'll be taking inspiration from the Old Masters in an experimental 'dark photography' studio session. Examples are above.

This is a small group studio workshop where we will focus on portrait lighting with a model. In this informative session you'll learn the skills needed to successfully use studio lighting and pose your subject.

Using flash and constant lighting our aim is to get some creative and interesting dramatic photos.

YOU WILL LEARN

• Correct camera settings for working in a studio
• Sync Speed
• Light modifiers
• Working with colour
• Subject separation
• Posing techniques

EXPERIENCE LEVEL

• Beginners/Refreshers
• Basic knowledge of using your camera

PRIOR KNOWLEDGE HELPFUL:

• Change to manual mode
• Change the aperture, SS, ISO, white balance
• Mirrorless bodies: Turn off silent shutter/electronic shutter

EQUIPMENT:

• Any camera with with manual functions and hot shoe
• Standard kit lens: 18-55, 24-70
