London Centre for Photography

There is a range of deer including herds of mature and young stags, as well as the normal park wildlife including parakeets and other birds of prey if we're lucky!

Come and meet other wildlife photographers, improve or refresh your skills and knowledge and experience the joy of shooting deer.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
This session will consist of an introduction to the basics of wildlife photography, including:

• Best camera settings & controls
• Shutter speeds to get sharp photos
• Focus and aperture control for subject to pop out of the background
• Composition
• Safety precautions

EXPERIENCE LEVEL

• Beginners with a basic knowledge of using you camera
• Intermediates looking to refresh their skills

EQUIPMENT

• Any camera
• Any lens you have will work at this location
• Recommend a 24-70mm and 70-200mm
• A 300mm or longer if you have one for close ups

OTHER ESSENTIALS

• Wear appropriate clothing/shoes for the weather
• Optional - something to kneel on if the ground is wet

Love shooting at night but tired of dragging your tripod around? This session is about learning a set of techniques to shoot using a single, fast prime lens (e.g. 50mm, 35mm f/1.2, f/1.4, f1.8)

You know that small, lightweight, inexpensive but beautiful lens that sits quietly in your camera bag? Tonight you’ll put it to good use!

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
· Using a fast aperture to allow hand holding at night
· Create bokeh for beautiful shallow depth of field
· Getting depth of field in your shot
· Tips for getting sharp shots whilst handholding at night

EXPERIENCE

• All levels welcome!

EQUIPMENT

• Any camera
• 50mm f1.8 - any lens will work but a fast lens (f1.8-f2.8) is recommended
• No tripods needed
• We'll be wandering around so be sure to wear appropriate shoes.

Whilst aperture and shutter priority mode are great for most shooting situations, you will at some point come across a lighting situation that will trick the camera into producing a result you didn’t intend. This is where you will find shooting in manual hugely beneficial to your photography.

This small group, task based workshop has been designed to help you understand and practice what you learn.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

• Expose for lighting that might fool your camera
• Produce consistent results
• Achieve a particular effect – depth of field/motion blur
• Use metering mode
• Create or eliminate silhouettes

EXPERIENCE LEVEL

• Beginners/refreshers

EQUIPMENT

• Any camera with manual mode
• Any lens - a zoom will be useful
• No tripod necessary
