🦋 Macro & Butterfly House Photography 🦋

Join us at the Horniman's beautiful Butterfly House in Forest Hill. It is an inspiring location, the grounds, the museum and the butterfly house, where you can get up close to hundreds of butterflies in the tropical indoor garden.

We'll shoot butterflies and afterwards we'll wonder the grounds where there are flowers and wildlife subjects. We can take advantage of the grounds, a museum and everything this amazing location has to offer.

We will have some extension tubes to practice macro photography (see below) for anyone who wants to try them.

• Tickets are timed please buy your ticket £9.90 for an 10.45hrs entrance asap to secure a place for that time

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN

• Aperture and shutter speeds and why they are important
• How to create depth in your images
• Focus and composition
• Background and lighting
• How to use extension tubes and macro lenses

We have a range of extension tubes to fit:

• 3x Nikon F, 3x Canon EF, 2x Sony E mounts

EQUIPMENT

• Any camera with manual settings
• Macro lens if you have one
• 50mm lens/70-200mm
• Tripod (optional - cannot be used in the butterfly house)

OPTIONAL

• Reflector / Diffuser
• Torch

OTHER ESSENTIALS

• Dress appropriately for the weather
