About us
This is a group for anyone interested in meeting like-minded people and socialising by participating in hiking adventures. All skill levels are welcome. We started this group in 2018 to help people get connected, travel together and explore amazing natural wonders.
With us you get to:
🚌 Discover destinations that aren’t easily reached by public transport. London Social Hiking is the only hiking group licensed to operate minibuses, making all our experiences truly unique.
🗺️ Be part of a small group (maximum 15 people). Many of you agree that small-group trips offer a more rewarding experience, greater flexibility and better opportunities to connect with fellow hikers and nature.
🥾 Enjoy hikes led by qualified and knowledgeable Mountain Leaders and Lowland Leaders.
💰 Benefit from great value. London Social Hiking is a not-for-profit group, so the price of each hike simply covers the running costs and is significantly lower than what a commercial operator would charge for a similar trip.

🏆 (4-Day Trip, May Bank Holiday) Three Peaks in Three Days Challenge
#################
This trip is limited to just 13 participants – reserve your spot early! Last year, more than 20 people were on the waitlist.
We’ve created a list of FAQs to help answer your questions.
#################
Join us for the iconic Three Peaks in Three Days Challenge – a fantastic adventure and a great way to experience the best mountain ranges that Britain has to offer in one long weekend! The Three Peaks in Three Days Challenge involves climbing the highest peaks of Scotland, England and Wales over three days, one peak per day, whilst taking in the magnificent scenery these countries have to offer. Designed as a gentler version of the 24-hour Three Peaks Challenge (scheduled for June 27-29), this format allows more time for each mountain and plenty of opportunity to rest and recover between climbs.
To maximise the enjoyment and the chances of successful ascents of all peaks, we'll travel to Scotland one day before, on Friday, staying overnight near Glasgow. We'll then start with Ben Nevis (1,345m) on Saturday, climb Scafell Pike (978m) in England on Sunday and finish with Snowdon (1,085m) in Wales on Monday! All routes will be guided by an experienced Mountain Leader, who has completed this challenge many times in the past (including the much tougher 24-hour Three Peaks Challenge!). Throughout the whole trip, we'll use a private minibus with a dedicated professional driver.

🏴 Break for the Border: Wye Gorge, King Arthur's Cave & Symonds Yat
Novotel London West, London, GB#################
Explore Britain’s most stunning trails in a small group of up to 15, travelling together by private minibus to beautiful, remote locations not easily reached by public transport.
We’ve created a list of FAQs to help answer your questions.
#################
Join London Social Hiking on a trip to the heart of the Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty! The Wye Valley is well-known for its beautiful river landscapes, dramatic limestone gorges, native woodlands, impressive geology, historic hill forts, castles and abbeys. On this trip, we'll discover the River Wye – Britain's fifth longest river and certainly one of the most scenic. Much of the lower length of the river defines the border between England and Wales. We'll be hiking in Wales, with England on the other shore!
We'll do two short hikes, taking in the highlights of the area. On our first hike, we'll visit the famous viewpoint at Symonds Yat Rock. This limestone outcrop is perched 120 metres above the River Wye and provides spectacular views of the river snaking its way through the gorge. The pleasant woodland trail will take us through nature reserves to the limestone rock towers of the Seven Sisters and the dramatic King Arthur’s Cave, which provided a refuge for mammoths, hyenas and rhinoceros in prehistoric times. We'll cross the Indiana Jones style suspension bridge and also pass the distinctive red and white house, which famously featured in the Netflix series “Sex Education” (Otis's and Jean's home).
After resting and having lunch and hot drinks, we'll take a short drive to the start of the second walk. This hike features the picturesque viewpoint known as the Eagle's Nest. The Eagle's Nest boasts unrivalled views down the Wye Valley to the rocks of Wintour's Leap, Chepstow, the Severn bridges and the estuary. The superb woodland path will lead us along the edge of an escarpment to the extraordinary Giant’s Cave and the Grotto, before finally descending to Chepstow and its beautifully preserved, 11th-century Chepstow Castle.
This trip is suitable for reasonably fit BEGINNERS – a great way to experience hiking before joining our more difficult hikes! 🤩

🧙 Hiking Glastonbury: Land of Myths, Magic & Holy Grail Legend
Novotel London West, London, GB#################
Explore Britain’s most stunning trails in a small group of up to 15, travelling together by private minibus to beautiful, remote locations not easily reached by public transport.
We’ve created a list of FAQs to help answer your questions.
#################
Come and join us on a new trip to Glastonbury, possibly the quirkiest town in England, and home to the famous Glastonbury Music Festival! This city is at fascinating crossroads of various religions and spiritualities, from Christianity and paganism, to Druidism and witchcraft, and is unusually rich in legends and mythology. Glastonbury Tor, which we're going to climb, took centre stage in the opening ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games, celebrating the “idyllic, mythical England”.
Our 4-mile route will follow the Glastonbury Way around the town and its beautiful landscape, taking in the most significant places. We’ll also visit the beautiful White Spring temple at the base of Glastonbury Tor (free entry). Candle-lit and atmospheric, it is a unique and sacred space long cherished by pilgrims and local people, and commonly used for quiet reflection, ceremonies and meditation. Opposite the White Spring are the peaceful, sunlit gardens of Chalice Well and the Red Spring, which you’re also welcome to visit for a small entry fee.
After the hike, you’ll have free time to explore Glastonbury’s weird and wonderful shops. This is the perfect place to browse for crystals (and learn about their healing properties), tarot cards, jewellery, lotions and potions, incense, herbs – and even wizard hats and magic wands! 🌟🔮🃏The town is also home to more than 50 spectacular pieces of street art, with colourful murals decorating the city centre and adding to Glastonbury’s vibrant, creative atmosphere.
This trip is suitable for BEGINNERS – a great way to experience hiking before joining our more difficult trips! 🤩
LEGENDS OF GLASTONBURY
There are many legends surrounding Glastonbury. Below are the most famous ones.
Jesus and Joseph of Arimathea
Jesus is said to have come to Glastonbury as a boy, travelling here with his uncle, Joseph of Arimathea. Joseph was a tin merchant and had travelled to England's south west for this valuable metal. After the crucifixion of Jesus, Joseph travelled to Britain with the Holy Grail (the cup used by Jesus at the Last Supper), which he buried under Glastonbury Tor.
The Holy Thorn
Joseph is said to have arrived in Glastonbury by boat over the flooded Somerset Levels. On arriving, he climbed up Wearyall Hill (a 15-minute walk from Glastonbury centre). Exhausted, he thrust his staff into the ground and rested. By morning his staff had taken root and grown into a miraculous thorn tree, known as the Holy Thorn. A flowering sprig of the Holy Thorn is cut every year and presented to the monarch, where it resides on his Christmas Day breakfast table.
The Isle of Avalon and King Arthur
For many people, Glastonbury represents the Isle of Avalon, the mythical island of Celtic tradition, believed to be a gateway to the underworld. Glastonbury is said to be the final resting place of the legendary King Arthur.
