On this trip, we're going to stay at the hotel in Cornwall's most beautiful seaside locations – one night in legendary Tintagel village and one night in Bude, a stone's throw from its famous golden beach!

Nestling amongst rolling hills and Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Cornwall attracts people from all over the world with its miles of golden sands, clear waters, spectacular cliff walks and famous surf. Come and discover some hidden gems of its wonderful coastal walks with us on this exciting three-day August bank holiday trip to the Atlantic coast of North Cornwall!

For the maximum flexibility and enjoyment of everyone, this trip is limited to 14 participants only.

TRIP HIGHLIGHTS

  • Atlantic coast of North Cornwall
  • Porthcurno Beach, regularly voted the top beach in the UK
  • Land's End – the most westerly point of mainland England and one of Cornwall's most famous landmarks
  • Spectacular views of the majestic St Michael's Mount. This tidal island can be reached by an ancient, cobbled causeway, which only opens at low tide and is covered by the sea at high tide.
  • Golden sands of Britain's best beaches – Sandy Mouth, Summerleaze and Crooklets
  • Picturesque fishing village of Boscastle and its attractive harbour
  • Trekking along the South West Coast Path, regularly named as one of the best walking trails in Europe
  • Overnight stay in the scenic coastal village of Tintagel, said to be the birthplace of legendary King Arthur
  • Overnight stay in the popular seaside resort town of Bude, famous for its long stretches of sandy dunes and great beaches, all within a short walk from our hotel
  • Spotting Soay sheep and goats that graze along the cliffs
  • Natural rock arches, known as the ‘Northern Door’ and ‘Ladies' Window’
  • Cornwall's best local and traditional delicacies: fresh seafood 🦞, Cornish pasties 🥐, cream tea 🥧, Cornish ice cream 🍦, etc.

ITINERARY

Day 1 – Saturday:

06:45 Meet outside Hotel Novotel London West, 1 Shortlands, W6 8DR (a five-minute walk from Hammersmith Station)
07:00 Sharp departure
12:30-17:30 Cliff-top hike from Rusey Beach to Tintagel via Boscastle village (difficulty: Moderate, distance: 14km, ascent: 540m)
18:00 Check-in at the hotel in Tintagel (Pendrin/Bosayne/Southcote guest houses)
19:00 Free time for dinner, watching sunset by the sea (20:23). Please book a table in advance for 19:00 if you prefer to eat out for dinner. Recommended: Ye Olde Malthouse Inn (14h-century inn), King Arthur's Arms Hotel, Vega (vegan food).

Day 2 – Sunday:

08:00 Breakfast
09:00 Departure
11:00-14:00 Hike from Land's End to Porthcurno Beach (difficulty: Easy, distance: 9km, ascent: 220m)
14:00-15:30 Free time for lunch at Porthcurno Beach Cafe and swimming
16:00-16:30 Photo stop next to the iconic Cornish landmark of St Michael’s Mount
18:15 Check in at Premier Inn Bude hotel
19:00 Dinner and free time by the sea. Please book a table in advance for 19:00 if you prefer to eat out. Recommended: The Deck (delicious food and a great place to watch sunset).

Day 3 – Monday:

07:00 Breakfast
08:00 Departure
08:30-12:30 Hike from Morwenstow village to Bude along cliffs and sandy beaches (difficulty: Moderate, distance: 12km, ascent: 480m)
12:30-14:30 Lunch at the seaside resort town of Bude, free time for swimming and relaxing at Summerleaze Beach (low tide at 13:30 – it's the best time to be at the beach)
14:45 Departure
21:00 London, Hammersmith

TRANSPORT

As on most of our trips, we'll travel in a comfortable 16-seater minibus.

ACCOMMODATION

The default option is a shared twin room at the hotel (you'll share your room with somebody from our group of the same gender). A small number of private rooms, for your own use, is available for £90 extra (£45 per night) – let us know if you would like an upgrade!

LUGGAGE

You can bring two small bags with you: one cabin size personal item bag (up to 10kg) and one smaller hiking backpack to fit under the seat. During the hike, you can leave your luggage in the minibus.

We'll let you know by changing your status to ‘Paid’ as soon as the payment is cleared. You can check your status next to your name in the attendees list of the event. Please allow up to 24 hours for the payment to arrive.

  • Guiding on all hiking routes by an experienced and qualified Mountain Leader
  • Two nights' accommodation at the hotel in shared twin rooms (you'll share your room with somebody from our group of the same gender)

  • Personal insurance (for cancellation, accident, health, emergency evacuation and loss, theft of or damage to baggage and personal effects, and personal trekking insurance)

  • Suitable hiking shoes with ankle support

  • Nuts and energy snacks to last you during the trip

  • Waterproof and windproof jacket and trousers (if there is a chance of rain)
