Join us for a relaxing one-day escape from the capital to some of England's finest beaches! We run this trip just once a year, created especially for the warmer weather – combining easy hiking with plenty of free time to enjoy the iconic beaches of Sandbanks and Bournemouth. With their wide golden sands backed by dunes, these stunning beaches regularly win awards as the country's top seaside destinations, including many prestigious Blue Flag awards.

We'll start the day exploring Christchurch Harbour and Hengistbury Head Nature Reserve. After a short climb to the summit of Hengistbury Head, we'll be rewarded with fantastic views across the New Forest, the Isle of Wight and the Purbeck Hills. From there, we'll follow the promenade along the picturesque sandy beaches to Bournemouth Pier, where we'll stop for an hour's lunch break. Don't forget your swimwear, flip flops and a beach towel if you fancy a refreshing dip in the sea or a barefoot stroll on the sand!

Next, a short drive will take us to the Miami-like peninsula of Sandbanks. With its multi-million-pound properties, yacht clubs and world-famous beaches, Sandbanks has always attracted celebrities – past and present residents include John Lennon, J.R.R. Tolkien, Rick Stein, Liam Gallagher and many others! You'll have time to sunbathe and relax on the four-mile stretch of glorious coastline at Sandbanks Beach, and enjoy spectacular views of Poole Harbour and Brownsea Island on the other side.

TRANSPORT

As on most of our trips, we'll travel in a comfortable 16-seater minibus.

BOOKING

To keep ticket prices down and avoid PayPal/Meetup fees (£7 extra per ticket), we kindly ask for payment by bank transfer. Please include your Meetup name and the trip as the payment reference (e.g. John Sandbanks). As places are limited, we can hold your place for 24 hours.

We'll let you know by changing your status to “Paid” as soon as the payment is cleared. You can check your status next to your name in the attendees list of the event. You don’t need a paid Meetup subscription to do this – just close any pop-up windows and continue.
