What we’re about
This is a group for anyone interested in meeting like-minded people and socialising by participating in hiking adventures. All skill levels are welcome. We started this group in 2018 to help people get connected, travel together and explore amazing natural wonders.
With us you get to:
🚌 Discover destinations that are not easily reached by public transport. London Social Hiking is the ONLY hiking group that holds the licence to operate minibuses. All our experiences are unique!
🗺️ Be part of a small group (max 15 people). A lot of you guys agree that small-group tours offer a more rewarding experience, more flexible itineraries and better opportunities to connect with fellow hikers and nature.
🥾 All trips are led by qualified and knowledgeable Mountain Leaders and Lowland Leaders.
💰 London Social Hiking is a not-for-profit group, therefore you get an amazing value too! The price of the hikes covers the running costs of the group and is significantly lower than what a commercial operator would charge for similar trips.

Our route will take us past the famous pinnacles of chalk that mark the western end of the island, the Needles, and Freshwater Bay – one of the island’s most picturesque beaches. The highlights of the walk include Alum Bay with its unusual multi-coloured sand cliffs, the iconic 19th-century Needles Lighthouse and dramatic sea views from Tennyson Down.
Sunday:
The second day will be even more exciting as we’ll take in three of the Isle of Wight’s most famous seaside resorts – Shanklin, Sandown and Ryde. Starting right from our hotel, we'll follow the coastal trail along promenades and sandy beaches. We’ll then ascend to the chalk cliffs of Culver Down with the imposing Earl of Yarborough Monument and magnificent views over the island. Our hike will finish in the busy coastal village of Bembridge, situated on the most easterly point of the Isle of Wight. From there, we'll take a short drive for lunch to the local gem – the Isle of Wight Garlic Farm. Their restaurant serves high quality, garlic inspired dishes using locally sourced ingredients and their own home-reared beef and goat. You can taste and buy lovely local produce at the farm shop, and even try a garlic ice cream and garlic beer!🍦🍺 Finally, we'll head to the welcoming seaside town of Ryde, which is also the largest town on the Isle of Wight. Come and join us on a hike to Corfe Castle – one of England's most majestic ruins! The first stone of Corfe Castle was laid more than 1,000 years ago and since then it has been at the centre of battles, plots and mysteries. It has been a treasury, military garrison, royal residence and family home. Corfe Castle dominates the skyline of the Purbecks for miles around and the views are simply breathtaking.
Our trail will follow the Purbeck Way, taking in the eastern end of the 95-mile long Jurassic Coast UNESCO World Heritage Site. We'll visit the iconic chalk formations, known as Old Harry Rocks, and admire stunning panoramic views of Studland Bay, Poole Harbour and the Dorset coast.

- ⛰️ The Malvern Hills Ridge End-To-End TraverseNovotel London West, London£78.00
#################
Travel in a small group (max 15 people) by a private minibus and discover the most beautiful trails in Britain!
We’ve created a list of FAQs to help you.
#################
Ready to embark on an epic and challenging ‘miniature mountain range’ adventure? Then join us on a day hike to the Malvern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty! We'll walk south to north, taking in all the main summits of the Malvern Ridge. This is a difficult hike with lots of ascents and descents. However, all our efforts will be well-rewarded by the dramatic scenery!
Rising abruptly from the flat lands of the Vale of Severn in the east and from the rolling hills of Herefordshire in the west, the Malvern Hills reach 425 metres at their highest point, Worcestershire Beacon. The spectacular landscapes and a wealth of ecological, historical and geological gems make them a unique destination. Did you know that at about 700 million years old, the rocks that form the Malvern Hills are some of the oldest in the UK?
The lofty hill range of the Malvern has attracted local tribes since prehistoric times. The summits offered good vantage points and were ideal for defence in troubled times. We'll pass the impressive ramparts of the Iron Age hill forts of British Camp and Midsummer Hill, thought to be over 2,000 years old. We'll also visit the famous man-made Hermit's Cave (also known as Clutter's Cave), cut out of the ancient rock at some unknown date.
Our hike will finish at Great Malvern, which was a popular spa town retreat for both the Georgians and the Victorians. For centuries, the Malvern Hills have been well-known for their health-giving spring waters. Many famous people came to Malvern to ‘take the cure’, including Charles Darwin and Charles Dickens.
