For this World Vegan Day, we wanted to bring you something informal that wouldn't break the bank. So imagine my surprise when walking home today, I spied a new café called "Oat Milk" (full of old music gear!) with avocado on toast for just £2, and vegan baguettes for around £4...
Despite the name, it turns out they're veggie rather than exclusively vegan, but in principle they've agreed to go vegan for the day on Sunday. (And of course this is just step one of my fiendish plan to turn them fully vegan. Mwahahahaha...)
There are a couple of awesome vegan events already happening on World Vegan Day - Fat Gay Vegan's Day of the Dead (http://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/vegan-day-of-the-dead-2015-tickets-18619117281) at Black Cat, and Kabaret at Karamel's World Vegan Day Extraveganza (https://www.facebook.com/events/1634722463464413/). But at least one of them is sold out. And both are around £30.
So "Oat Milk" (Web (http://www.oat-milk.com/) / Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/oatmilkindustries) / Twitter (https://twitter.com/oatmilkind) / Instagram (https://instagram.com/oatmilkindustries)) will be our base of operations for the "World Vegan Day: Camden Vegan Hangout". Just five minutes from inSpiral (http://www.inspiral.co/), the markets (http://www.camdenlock.net/) (including Cookies and Scream (http://www.cookiesandscream.com/), Koshari Street (http://www.kosharistreet.com/), and Pomodoro e Basilico (http://www.pomodoroebasilico.co.uk/)), Dou Dou (http://www.happycow.net/reviews/dou-dou-north-west-london-701), and Earth (http://www.earthnaturalfoods.co.uk/) - and about 10 to Bumblebee (http://www.happycow.net/reviews/bumblebee-natural-foods-london-41704) and The Third Estate (https://www.facebook.com/thirdestatelondon). (Even Vx (http://www.vegancross.com/) isn't that far down the canal.)
And if it goes well, we might make it a regular thing. (Step two of that cunning plan...)
