Join author and editor Phoebe Morgan for a talk on publishing commercial fiction. Exploring the traditional route to publication, Phoebe will discuss the current fiction market and popular genres, as well as what a commissioning editor looks for and why. Incorporating one or two short exercises, Phoebe will demonstrate how important the opening line and hook of your novel is for agents and editors. She will also answer any other questions you may have on the publishing process and discuss dealing with rejection.
Phoebe Morgan is now an editorial director at Trapeze, an imprint of Orion Books. She commissions commercial fiction - everything from crime and thriller to sweeping love stories. Prior to this she was at HarperCollins, publishing a range of Sunday Times and Kindle bestsellers. She is also an author herself and her psychological thrillers, The Doll House and The Girl Next Door, are out now with HQ.
