Right now the best evening out for writers in London is Bard Debuts. I've been twice now and I want every writer I know to experience it for themselves. It's full of fun, inspiration and insights into what it's really like to be published for the first time. Your debut novel only happens once. I'm going on Oct 22nd and I'd love to go together with more writers, if you're free?

The debuts evening is special for the way you meet the authors and hear about books you may miss otherwise. Kristin, the bookshop's manager, reads every debut and chooses which books/authors to feature. Her taste is very wide-ranging.

Bàrd Books is a new(ish) bookshop in the heart of the east end, close to Victoria Park, and Mile End is the closest tube station. Their list is vey eclectic but I would say they lean towards independent literary publishing but that doesn't rule out a lot of horror, historical, crime and more.

Bard Debuts - October

Imagine a night of speed dating except the people selling themselves are the newest authors on the scene. JOIN US for the latest of a monthly night celebrating debut author. Meet the faces behind the work as they each take the stage for 10 minutes to present their work.

Tickets: £5

It's a small bookshop but I would say they can fit up to 30 people comfortably in the space (see photos). It has a café/bar so you can grab a tea or a stronger drink to imbibe while you listen to the authors.

Hope to see you there! If you book your ticket, tell me (post a comment below) and we can arrange to sit together. I've booked mine.

NOTE: RSVP'ing for this event doesn't mean you have a seat. You will need to book and pay for your place with the bookshop here:
