Page Turners Anonymous Book Club #15 - Isabel Canas

Hello!

Welcome to the fifteenth meeting of the Page Turners Anonymous book club! We are a super laid back book club focusing on unconventional books (Idk what this means but it sure doesn't mean the normal books you would read at any other book club!). For our fifteenth meeting we are going to be discussing Vampires of El Norte Z by Isabel Cana. Vampires, Vaqueros, and star-crossed lover. What more can one want?

In the spirit of St. Valentines day we will be reading a very unique love story. Set in the backdrop of the American invasion of Mexico in 1846, this book sees two lovers pit against the supernatural. If you are a fan of historical fiction, vampires, and romance then this is the book for you.

I want to emphasize that this is not a very high-stakes book club. What I mean by that is that I do not expect a doctoral thesis about the themes and symbology of the book. I just want you to focus on your favorite characters, scenes, and how you related to the book. This does not mean you can skate on by not reading the book. You are still expected to both contribute to the discussion and socialize with the other members. I think socialization and making friends with each other is the keystone to a good book club more so than the books.

We are going to meet at Ambitious Ales. They have an incredible selection of food and drinks (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic) provided by a huge variety of restaurants! I will reserve a seat for everyone. Please do try to arrive on time as it would make the discussion easier. I will get some pizzas from Thunderbolt Pizza!

Everyone is welcomed here! All I ask is that you are kind and respectful to others. Again, the foundation to a good book club are its members. So please lets just treat each other like good friends. You may be asked to leave the club if you do not follow these stipulations.

Note: Since this is a new meetup group we are capped at 10 attendees. So please honor your RSVP. A book club cannot thrive without active members. If you are on the waitlist please comment your interest. You are more than likely going to be able to attend the meeting but please again also honor your RSVP.
