About us

Welcome to Long Island Ladies Having Lunch!

Thank you for stopping by to learn more about our group.

New memberships may not be available if events are fully booked. It wouldn't be fair to accept new members if existing members are experiencing waitlists. Priority is given to those that have a referral or invitation.

IMPORTANT: Read entire description thoroughly before submitting a request to join.

Long Island Ladies Having Lunch is a small group of women 55 and better that are modern, youthful and intelligent. We are outgoing, optimistic, caring and easy going. Our focus is to develop long lasting friendships with other sincere, caring, thoughtful women. And we want to have fun!

We are primarily a weekday lunch group, often dining at nicer restaurants with some other activities mixed in. We chat, catch up and share. Most events are in western Suffolk County.

You will not be invisible, alone or ignored in a large group. Events are limited to 6-8 attendees. You'll have an opportunity to get to know everyone in our small group. You'll have a chance to be heard and participate. You can expect individual attention. You will not be anonymous in this group.

YOU MUST HAVE WEEKDAY, LUNCH TIME AVAILABILITY THROUGHOUT THE YEAR TO BE CONSIDERED FOR MEMBERSHIP.

When you submit a "REQUEST TO JOIN", You MUST be willing to open up and tell us why you would be a good fit. Who are you really? Tell us something someone wouldn't know without getting to know you for a bit. Talking about hobbies, employment, marital or familial status can be nice, but is not enough. We want more than just surface info. The "Request to Join" interview questions are your only opportunity for us to get to "know" you. Be thoughtful and answer the questions fully.

There is a free a 30-day trial period. Participate in at least 1 event during this time. If we are a good fit, you will be asked to pay a yearly membership fee of $15. Please be aware that a lot of time is spent researching fun activities for us to do and great restaurants to visit. There's a lot that goes into every single activity. Dues are charged to offset some expenses incurred in running the group. Cash payments are prorated so that memberships come due on December 31st of each year. If at any point, we are no longer a good fit, membership may be removed. Please pay your dues on your own without needing reminders.

These are some general housekeeping rules:
*A profile photo of you alone without sunglasses is required.
*Attend events regularly and be on time. Let's be honest, you won't make friends if you don't regularly meet, talk with and get to know us! Cultivating friendships takes time, attendance and participation.
*No politics, religion or other polarizing topics.
*Be considerate! Update your RSVP or waitlist status asap. RSVP only when you are confident you can attend. If you are on a waitlist and make other plans, remove yourself from the waitlist.
*It is understood that life happens. There will be times when a cancellation is required. Please be kind and communicate with the organizer. A lot of work goes into setting up events and the courtesy is appreciated.
*Should there be a waitlist for an event, efforts will be made to fill available seats in the order in which someone went onto the waitlist.
*Please don't solicit or conduct business at events.

Always bring cash, $10s, $5s & $1s making settling your check easier. We use the traditional 1.3 method. Keep track of the cost of your order (the subtotal) and multiply by 1.3. This covers your entire tab, including tax and tip. You are responsible to know how to do this.

If approved, you are expected to check this group's page regularly. Policies may change.

Please be aware that not all requests to join are accepted. Most often this is because events are full or interview questions were not answered fully.
