What we're about
Our goal is to encourage more people to ride more often and provide as many opportunities for that as possible.
We try to be inclusive and provide rides for bicyclists of all ability levels and speeds. Read this to learn how we rate our rides: http://tinyurl.com/87s2bme
If you are a new or returning cyclist, we hope you will find some rides scheduled here that match what you want to do. If not, please email lauren, our organizer, or suggest a ride on the home page. All members can suggest and create rides.
If you are located in or near Longmont and would like to help us organize rides in this area, I would be happy to make you an Event Organizer... If you have requests or ideas for rides, let me know. Event Organizers are needed to lead both road and mountain bike rides. It doesn't take much to lead a ride... you just have to show up.
As a courtesy to all, PLEASE update your RSVP if your plans change. It is unfair to the leader who shows up and s/he is the only one there. Thank you in advance.

NEW PROTOCOL FOR 2023:
A ride is a definite GO IF there are at least 4 people signed up 12 hours before ride and the forecast is for 40 degrees (F) within the first hour of the ride. I will cancel the ride no less than 1 hour before scheduled departure.
Meet at the picnic table in front of the Senior center at designated time - we will do intros and safety checks; wheels down shortly thereafter, and we will ride for 90 minutes. please note - this ride is more about SMILES than MILES. If you're interested in more miles, ride from home and back home afterwards!
We generally ride 18-25 miles, 90-12- minutes at a[masked] mph pace which will include occasional hills.
If that sounds like a little more than you're accustomed to, try the Thursday Cinnamon Rollers ride.
We always start with safety checks - bikes, helmets and a safety tip of the day. Ride will be combination of roads with bike lanes, trails (paved and gravel) and low stress roads, perfect for the newer rider, those seeking camaraderie, confidence or just a great start to the middle of the week. Road, hybrid, mountain or e-bikes will work. Everyone must wear helmets (I can provide with advance notice). Please bring spare tube for your tire size, water, ID and snack/money as we may stop for a coffee! Weekly route will vary. Contact me with any questions. I look forward to seeing/riding with all of you in 2023!
Who we are: a group of (mostly) Longmont community members who like to get out for some fresh air, move our bodies, explore the bike paths, lanes and low stress roads in and around Longmont while engaging in conversation.
Who/what we are not: racers, mountain bikers!
I kindly request that if you RSVP that you will be attending and your plans change to LET ME KNOW by changing your RSVP no less than one hour prior to start time. Thank you in advance.

| Do you ever wonder why a bicyclist appears to be in the lane of traffic? How do you safely navigate a right hand turn when a bicycle or two is in the bike lane? Is what they are doing legal? And when/if you ride a bike, where is the safest place to be? A slide presentation, answering these questions as well as why people on bikes do what they do, along with Q & A and discussion will be delivered to ALL users of the roads - whether you drive a car, ride a bike, walk or all three! After the presentation and discussion, a brief quiz will earn you a certificate of completion! Come see why this class is so popular across Colorado and the USA! |

Meet at 8:15 for 8:30 departure. Please do check back within 12 hours of start time, as if we do not reach our minimum (4) for this ride, it will likely be canceled (sorry - best to sign up early) and will be announced here.
Looking for a more casual ride, camaraderie, while getting some fresh air and exercise? Take the first step - RSVP "yes" and we promise you'll A) have FUN B) learn of a new place to ride C) won't be dropped and will assist with any (minor) noises/mechanicals and answer any bike-related questions you might have. Okay, may answer "other" questions as well, but no guarantees! Bring your bike, helmet, water bottle, ID and a tube that fits your tire size (more about that on Thursday morning if you don't have one). This group sticks to low stress roads, bike lanes, bike paths and occasionally goes through a medium stress intersection (though I try to avoid).
How far/long do we ride? We will be together for 90+ minutes, which will include introductions, safety tip of the day, bike/helmet safety check and a ride, usually 60-75 minutes. Mile-wise it usually ends up between 8-12, but can be more or less, depending on weather, wind, number of stops and people, so i prefer to gauge on time rather than distance. Sometimes we stop, sometimes we don't. Come ride with us - see if it's a good fit - we don't bite (unless there are cookies offered).
I kindly request that if you RSVP that you will be attending and your plans change to LET ME KNOW by changing your RSVP no less than one hour prior to start time. Thank you in advance.
