TYPE: Walk | PACE: Moderate | TERRAIN: Dirt & Rocky Trail | DISTANCE: Approx. 3 miles.
Join us for a beautiful spring walk on the Heil Valley Ranch Overland Loop Trail, one of the Front Range’s classic foothill hikes. This route winds through rolling grasslands, pine forest, and rocky ridgelines with expansive views of the surrounding hills and plains. We will be meeting at the Heil Valley Trailhead at 9:00 AM.
Expect a steady but manageable climb, uneven terrain in sections, and plenty of opportunities to stop, chat, and take in the scenery. This is a grea time to get to see some wildflowers!
Post-walk/lunch stop: After the hike, we’ll head back to Longmont for lunch at Anchan Thai. Expect rich curries, noodle dishes, refreshing iced teas, and a well-earned meal after a solid morning on the trail.
### Walking Movement Leader:
Jorge: I walk and I squawk
### How to Prepare:
Please bring plenty of water, sturdy shoes or hiking boots, sunscreen, and layers for changing mountain weather. The trail has rocky and uneven sections, so trekking poles are welcome if you like extra support. We’ll be starting relatively early to take advantage of cooler temperatures and lighter trail traffic. Snacks are always encouraged.

First Longmont Paddles? Paddle and Picnic 🏄♂️🌊🌞
McIntosh Lake Boat Ramp, Lakeshore Drive & Harbor Lane, Longmont, CO, US### Details
TYPE: Paddleboard | PACE: Leisurely | TERRAIN: Water | DISTANCE: Open paddling
Looks like it will be nice and warm next week! Also all this snow has to help with the water. Let's try to paddle!
I barely paddled last summer... to fix that I am hoping to start having these every other week or so once it gets warm. It will be weather dependent until later in the Spring. If it is sunny and above 60, we are on. I will make a call by that week's Friday.
Join us for a relaxing morning on the water at McIntosh Lake! This is the first in our Paddleboard Series, where we’ll enjoy a laid-back paddle while also having a picnic by the shore. No paddleboard? No problem anyone can jump on mine (And I imagine others will share as well). This is a good way to try it out. And don’t forget a snack to share at the picnic!
After and during the paddling, we’ll gather by the water for a picnic. Bring a snack to share, something to drink, and a blanket or chair to relax by the lake.
### Paddle Movement Leader:
Jorge: I walk… but sometimes, I float.
### How to Prepare:
Dress for the water, whether that’s a swimsuit, quick-dry clothes, or something comfortable for paddling. Bring sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses for sun protection. If you have a paddleboard, bring it along, but you don’t need one to join.
### Meeting Site:
Launch Site: Meet at the Southern Boat Launch at McIntosh Lake – 11:30 AM. We will be in the water by 12:00 once we get ready.
As it gets warmer the time will move earlier.
### Release of Liability:
By signing up for this event, you acknowledge that you are responsible for your own safety and well-being throughout the activity. This is a volunteer-led experience. Volunteers are not liable for any injury or illness that may happen during the event or that results from participating in this event. Please take good care to only participate at a level within your skill and comfort. As always, have fun and be safe
