Climate change, ice caps melting, mass extinction, microplastics, droughts, fires, supply chain issues. Oh, my!
Are we in the eleventh hour and fifty-eighth minute as the Doomsday Clock says, or is there time? Will science save us, or is it the portal to our destruction? Can we do something, or is palliative care for humanity all that is left to do. Are politicians, leaders doing enough and is there any way we can hold them accountable?
One thing’s for sure; no matter what happens, we need friends, and we’ve got to have fun.
This Meetup Group is for people who ask these questions, read about it, follow intelligent people and engaging podcasts, and attend conferences or want to. You want like-minded people to talk to, plot to save the world with, and grieve if that’s all there is. If you are like us, you want friends who care, are informed and are doing something.
Most events will be in person, hosted by members, some will be in public venues, as many as possible will be n nature.
John and Gabriella have a beautiful 40-acre homestead thirty minutes from downtown Portland. They are happy to play host for larger events and have experience leading events of all sizes. This is to be a member/volunteer organization, so everyone is expected to pitch in, host if you can, suggest events, comment, etc. No free-riders! No one is to make money from these gatherings. Any monies collected are to cover costs only.
Let’s get together to discuss books, attend outings, get together for potlucks, and dream and scheme together. If you haven’t yet read a book or spent time thinking about this, below is a list to get you started.
If you are just starting your journey, please read and watch some of the recommendations before applying. We want to start this group with people already well versed in the problems and possible solutions. If you fit the latter, please fill out the application.
