What we’re about
This group meets monthly to discuss subjects of import to humanity. From philosophy and religion to science, history, and politics, this study center presents, discusses and debates a variety of subjects in the hope of gaining a better understanding of ourselves and the universe around us. By meeting and discussing important ideas and issues, we grow in understanding, tolerance, and wisdom.
The Masonic Philosophical Society was created by Universal Freemasonry to promote the eradication of ignorance in all its forms. Any person who is a freethinker, tolerant and open, and who seeks rational discourse is invited to attend and learn more about oneself, the world, the universe, and Freemasonry.
Mission Statement
The Masonic Philosophical Society embraces the concept of learning, not for school, but for life, and believes that all men, who seek it, deserve access to continued education. We further embrace the concept of a community environment, where ideas can be shared and debated in an open forum. From the seven liberal arts to the arcane, we seek to gain and to share the knowledge that is the legacy of mankind.

See all- Is there a Solution to the Homeless Problem?Plummer Park West Hollywood, Los Angeles, CA
September's study will be conducted by Bro. Kevin Watson as he asks the question, "Is there a Solution to the Homeless Problem?"
Synopsis:
Homelessness is “the state of having no home or permanent residence,” and as Encyclopaedia
Britannica notes, “few social problems are as visible as the plight of homeless people.”
Homelessness has ceased being only a problem for the largest cities and is now an issue few can
ignore.
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) estimated that 771,480 people
experienced homelessness in the United States in 2024, the highest amount since HUD began
reporting on the unhoused population in 2005.
Globally, figures are difficult to calculate, but the World Economic Forum reported an estimated
150 million people were unhoused in 2021, up from 100 million reported by the last United
Nations global survey in 2005.
Question: What is homelessness?
Most federal, state and local governments have prioritized providing permanent shelter to the
homeless. Other solutions to homelessness have been proposed, including the use of tiny
houses and abandoned buildings for the homeless, criminalizing sleeping in public, and requiring
sobriety and employment before receiving shelter.
Freemasons are taught to give of themselves to others in their time of physical, mental or
spiritual distress.
Question: Given the magnitude of the homeless problem, what is a person to do?Mission Statement:
