
What we’re about
L.A. Hiking Group is for people looking to meet others interested in walking or hiking for exercise and attending other fun events such as stair climbing, trail running, bicycling, kayaking, skiing, river rafting, etc.
We also host BBQs, parties and other social gatherings. We may even go on exotic vacations, but mostly it is about having fun in the outdoors.
L.A. Hiking Group is a nonprofit public service organization. Lifting people up is our mission. Our event hosts, event organizers, assistant organizers and organizer ("hosts") are all volunteers.
We organize many outdoor adventures in greater L.A. and surrounding areas as well as hiking, camping and backpacking trips to national parks and wildernesses throughout California and other states. Our hosts have expertise ranging from beginner, intermediate to advanced level.
The hosts of L.A Hiking Group are not professional hike leaders. You are responsible for yourself. By signing up for our events, you agree not to hold the hosts of L.A. Hiking Group responsible for whatever happens to you over these events.
L.A. Hiking Group does not certify the expertise of our hosts and is NOT responsible for any possible losses and injuries, incidental or otherwise.
For safety and liability reasons, you MUST have a recent profile PHOTO clearly showing your face and carry a personal ID to participate in our events.

🚴 Los Angeles River Bicycle Ride from North Hollywood to Chinatown for Lunch
North Hollywood Metro Station, 5391 Lankershim Blvd. at Chandler Blvd., North Hollywood, ca, USJoin us for a bicycle ride this morning from North Hollywood Metro Station to Chinatown. We will depart at 9:00AM.
We will take alternate roads through Griffith park if the bike path is flooded.

QUALIFICATIONS:
This bicycle ride is 31 miles roundtrip from North Hollywood to Chinatown, but you can ride your bike one way and take the Metro back if you want a shorter 15.5 mile bike ride.
The route is on mostly flat terrain on the LA River Bike Path with a few rolling hills and underpasses on roads in Griffith Park.
We will be riding at a speed of 12 to 15 miles per hour.
You must wear a bicycle helmet and be at least 18 years old to ride with our group.

Meet us at the plaza above the escalators to the Metro station on the east side of Lankershim Blvd at:

Meet at 8:45AM to introduce yourself. We'll go over the ride plan and have a safety talk.

We will stop for lunch at a restaurant in Chinatown.

WHAT TO BRING:
- Bring 2 spare tubes and a small pump or CO2 cartridges, levers and a patch kit in case of a flat tire.
- Make sure your bicycle is in good working condition with tires properly inflated and bike chain lubricated prior to the ride.
- Bring food such as power bars to eat and water to drink.
- Wear sunscreen to prevent a sunburn. Also bring a first aid kit.
- Bring a bike lock. Do not leave your bike unattended at the North Hollywood Metro Station.
- Bring your cell phone.
- Bring a TAP card if you plan to return on the Metro or you can buy one at the station.
- Bring cash for lunch.
Safety is always our first concern. Use standard hand signals for group rides and obey all traffic stops and signals.

HIKE LENGTH: about 5 miles, elevation gain around 900 feet.
DIFFICULTY: medium
LOTS OF ROCK SCRAMBLING
