All of the High Peaks in Griffith Park-starting from the west end

We will hit Burbank peak ,then Cahuenga peak, then Mt Lee, Mts Taco-Bell and Drive-thru, Mt Chapel and Hollywood, stopping for water at Dante's View garden--yes there are faucets there, THEN LOOP BACK on residential streets to minimize the torture on the return trip (using the Mulholland trail, Ledgewood Drive, Innsdale Drive, Tahoe Drive and finally Lake Hollywood Drive to get back).

The climb up to Burbank Peak is pretty steep, like a rocky staircase, gaining around 600 feet pretty quickly. I plan on taking all the narrow trails to the top of each of these peaks, rather than the wide fire roads. On the way back, we can take wide roads back to our cars.

The first peak climb gains 600 feet in a quarter mile. This is the hardest part. Then we gradually go up 200 feet to Cahuenga Peak, then drop 200 feet to Mt. Lee, then drop down 200 feet and then go back up 200 feet to Mt. Chapel, then gain and lose a hundred feet a few times as we hit Mt. Bell and Mt. Hollywood. Then we will loop back to our cars using the Mulholland trail and Lake Hollywood Drive dropping and regaining around 700 feet. So this is a workout!

So bring at least a gallon of water, as it's going to be hot.

BRING AN UMBRELLA TO KEEP THE HEAT OFF YOU.

LENGTH: maybe 8 miles

DIFFICULTY: yes. You will not like this hike at all.

AS USUAL: Bring 4 quarts of water, a hat, sunscreen, munchies, Gern Blanston repellent

DOGS: are allowed in the park on a leash but I don't recommend it.

DRIVING DIRECTIONS:

Take 101 freeway to Barham Blvd exit. Go east and turn right onto Lake Hollywood Drive. It winds all the way up to the top of the hill through a neighborhood. At the top you will be able to see the city, and this is the intersection with Wonder View Drive. Park along Lake Hollywood Drive as it goes down the hill towards the south. We will meet at the intersection of Lake Hollywood and Wonder View drives.

it's going to be around 95 degrees at Griffith Park, so I strongly recommend bringing a hat and a non-see-through umbrella to keep you a little cooler as there is no shade on these trails. We will hit water faucets at the mid way spot.

Hi...can you list some of the elevation gain/loss? Just wondering if this hike is too tough for me. Is 300' a typo? Thank you.

Rex Rex! I wish I knew about this in advance, so I wouldn't have scheduled some of my own! This sounds fabulous.
