TWO HIKES--DO ONE...DO BOTH...
HIKE #2 IN OUR TOUR OF THE RIM OF THE VALLEY PARK SYSTEM: Easy Porter Ranch Loop Hike through Aliso Canyon and back via the Palisades (Ridgeline) Park
Followed by Easy walk to Corriganville movie ranch’s caves
WHEN: 2PM to 4:30 Sunday October 10th—for Porter Ranch loop hike, AND
5 to 6:30P PM for Corriganville hike
Difficulty: pretty easy—4.5 miles total, elevation gain 400 feet on the way up in a shady canyon, then downhill along sunny view-filled Palisades (Ridgeline) Park back to our cars/skateboards.
Followed by 1.5 mile visit to the oak grove and caves in Corriganville Park at 5pm to 6:30 PM ( a former movie ranch, lots of interpretive signs. Also, very little elevation gain except to climb the 200 foot ridge with the caves.
DIRECTIONS TO ALISO CANYON PARK FOR 2 PM HIKE:
Take the 118 freeway west of the 405 freeway to the Reseda Blvd. offramp. The ramp drops you onto Rinaldi Street—turn right and follow Rinaldi for a mile. The Aliso Canyon Park is on the left (north side). If you cross Zelzah Street, you have gone too far. Parking is on Rinaldi Street.
DIRECTIONS TO CORRIGANVILLE PARK FOR 5 PM HIKE:
Take the 118 freeway another 6 miles west of the Reseda Blvd. ramp to the Rocky Peak offramp. Turn left onto the bridge, then turn right onto Santa Susana Pass Road. From there we take Santa Susana Pass road down the hill (west) and the Corriganville Park entrance is a mile from the freeway offramp at Smith Road. Parking is free!!!!
BRING: WATER, HAT, SUNSCREEN, HIKING SHOES, CLOTHING (sorry, no nudity on my hikes), CAMERAS, (there will be plenty of nude rocks)
