Our hike will take on the Upper Winter Creek trail to the beautiful Hoegee trail camp. A fellow by the name of Arie Hoegee built his resort camp here in 1908. For 30 years it was a favorite hiker’s destination. The rustic buildings are long since gone, but the Forest Service has converted this streamside glen into Hoegee Trail Camp complete with stoves and picnic tables. During a 24 hour period on January 22 – 23 1942, Hoegee Trail Camp is deluged with 26.12 inches of rain!!! A Southern California record that still stands to this day!!!!

Upon reaching Hoegee Trail camp we will break for at LEAST 30 minutes to eat, take pictures and have a look around this wonderful Campground. We will return to Chantry Flats via the Sturtevant Trail and up the service road that will take us back up to the Chantry Flats parking lot.

We will meet at the north end of the REI parking lot in Arcadia. An adventure pass is required for parking at Chantry Flats. Carpools will be arranged at REI!!!

PLEASE let us know if you can volunteer to be a carpool driver, and / or have an adventure pass!!!!!
