Seventeen miles and over 50 public staircases between Downtown Los Angeles and Silver Lake. There will be four mini-loops between two and seven miles where participants can join and depart from the group. Big Parade organizer Dan Koeppel will provide further details the week before the event. I'll provide an update then.
(May 14) DIRECTIONS, MAPS AND SCHEDULES FOR THE BIG PARADE ARE NOW POSTED AT: http://www.bigparadela.com/
The Saturday morning segment is (mostly) a new route, starting at the base of Angel's Flight Downtown a couple of blocks west of the Hill Street exit from the Civic Center Red Line Metro Station at 8:00 am. I plan to take the Metro. There's plenty of parking downtown on Saturday, but you if you drive you need to figure out how to get back to your parked car via public transit or arrange for someone else to drive you there. The principal Saturday afternoon segment is a loop around Echo Park and Elysian Heights that brings you back close to where you started. I plan to hike Saturday morning and Sunday morning and possibly a portion of Saturday afternoon (Echo Park and Elysian Heights).
