Join us for a hike along the Sam Merrill trail up to Echo Mountain up to the ruins/remains of the railroad incline and hotel foundation that Echo Mountain is famous for. This is a very popular hike for LA hikers. One, where you get some of the best views of the LA area.
The difference this time, is the time of year. Chinese New Year officially starts on Monday February 8th. The eve of, the night before is superbowl sunday, and thats a tradition followed by many, so I picked Saturday instead. Echo Mountain overlooks the San Gabriel Valley, which has several celebration throughout February, but none of them are on the 6th. But who knows, you might see a firework or two, being shot off in a backyard here or there off in the distance.
We will have a little potluck up at the top. Please feel free to bring anyChinese foodor beverages to share or anything else that would fit the festivities. (I'm banking on those who might have a slight bit more familiarity with the cultural traditions than I do!)
