2 parts, do one or both...

PART ONE: BOUQUET FALLS AND BEE PEAK

FOR INTERMEDIATE TO EXPERIENCED HIKERS ONLY. THIS IS AN ADVENTURE HIKE AND CLIMB!
The first part of this hike involves climbing using your hands, although no ropes are required, so shoes with good grip and even climbing gloves would be a good idea.

First we do an easy walk up the road to the cascades and 20 foot waterfall. (There is only poison oak in the creek below the waterfalls, so wear long pants if you're really bad about avoiding it. ) From the waterfalls, we climb metamorphic rocks (Pelona Schist) up 200 feet to a single-track trail which then leads to Bee Peak via a single track trail through the brush. Total elevation gain is 1100 feet. We will take our time getting up the rocks as they are like climbing a rock staircase. After reaching the peak, we continue west to a wide trail called the Saugus Del Sur road, and then drop back down to Bouquet canyon road via the Quarry Road, also a wide trail.

LENGTH: about 6 miles and three hours at least

Take the 14 freeway to Sand Canyon road exit, go north 2 miles and when it intersects Sierra Highway, turn right, go 1/4 mile then turn left onto Vasquez canyon and follow this road for about 3 miles and then turn right at Bouquet canyon road. Turn right and go north for about 9 miles. You will see a sign saying "Quarry Road". Park in the dirt area on the right side of the road.
(if you reach Bouquet reservoir, you have gone too far. The Quarry Road parking area is 2 & 1/2 miles downhill from the Bouquet dam)
