HIKE, THEN Full Moon July 4th Fireworks viewing at Mt. Rexmore In Chatsworth

BRING SNACKS, DRINKS, PARTY FAVORS; BRING A YOGA MAT OR A COMFORTABLE FOLDING CHAIR, or just relax on the smooth rocks which offer views of both the Simi Valley and the San Fernando Valley. Bring a headlamp for the return trip to our cars.

Yes, I know that all officially organized fireworks displays have been canceled. We will be enjoying all the "other" displays.

DETAILS:
Take a free tour of the somewhat famous Mount Rexmore preserve.
The 120 acres was purchased in 2013 by your hike leader to save the wildlife migration corridor between the Santa Susana mountains and the Simi hills. It is home to at least 40 types of native flowers, trees and sagebrush, plus deer, bobcats, lizards, hawks, rattlesnakes and Mountain lions. WHERE TO MEET: at the Rocky Peak trailhead parking area located at the SOUTH end of the Rocky Peak offramp bridge at the 118 freeway, at the intersection with Santa Susana Pass Road.

DISTANCE: 4 miles. Difficulty: moderate. Hike is all on trails and monkeying around on the nearby rocks is optional. Elevation gain is 500 feet. At 9 pm we will climb up to the top of the north peeak

YOU MUST SIGN A WAIVER OF LIABILITY:
Everyone must sign a liability waiver....yup, Damn lawyers, because this 120 acre preserve is private property owned by a charity, and it does not have the automatic liability immunity which public parks have.
