Hike to three waterfalls, get wet in the pines at the Angeles Forest's Buckhorn

1:00 pm, HIKE STARTS, DISTANCE: 7 miles. DOWNHILL then UPHILL BACK.

Weather: forecast is 80 TO 83 degrees up in the high country

DIFFICULTY: MODERATE, 1100 feet elevation loss getting there, then 1100 feet elevation gain on the way back

BRING SHOES YOU CAN GET WET!!!

THERE ARE LOTS OF ROCKS TO CLIMB AND MONKEY AROUND UPON!!!!
But the rock scrambling is optional

WHERE TO MEET?:

PARK IN THE WIDE PAVED AREA ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY 2 JUST BEFORE THIS SIGN "BUCKHORN DAY USE PARKING AREA".
(I am assuming that you are coming from L.A.):

DETAILS: TAKE THE 210 FREEWAY to the 2--THEN drive north on Angeles Crest Highway/Highway 2 for 35 miles (which takes 1 hour). We meet just past the Mount Waterman ski area at the Buckhorn day use area parking area on the roadside. Look for a big sign that says (duh.....) "BUCKHORN DAY USE PARKING AREA"

NOTE: there are two day use parking areas. WE WILL MEET AT THE HIGHWAY 2 DAY USE PARKING LOT. --------

..... NOT THE DAY USE LOT AT THE FAR DOWNHILL END OF THE CAMPGROUND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. it is too small to hold all of our cars. so we will park at the highway

THERE IS NO CELL PHONE SERVICE HERE.

WATER AND RESTROOMS: We will be hiking through a civilized campground that has drinking water and toilets.

IF YOU PARK ALONG THE ROAD, YOU DO NOT NEED A $5 ADVENTURE PASS. IF YOU PARK IN THE DAY USE AREA PARKING LOT NEAR THE RESTROOMS, YOU DO NEED AN ADVENTURE PASS.
