Urban Hike - Northeast LA Hilltops

- On MLK Monday, we will explore several hills in northeast LA (Ascot Hills Park, Rose Hill Park, Flattop/Radio Hill) plus the neighborhoods in between them including Lincoln Heights. We should enjoy fabulous views of downtown LA and the San Gabriels on the way. Our route will also take us up Telluride Street, one of the steepest streets in Los Angeles. Approximately 25% of the walk will be on dirt paths.
- Level: Advanced-Intermediate.
- Speed: Brisk, but with quick stops to regroup along the way.
- Distance: 6.7 miles.
- Elevation gain: ~1000 feet.
- Duration: 3 hours.
- Bathrooms: public facilities at the start at Ascot Hills Park.
- Parking: free parking at Ascot Hills Park. The first parking lot is on the left side of the gate when you enter. The second parking lot is up the hill to the right after you enter the gate. There is also space on Multnomah St just outside the park boundary if the lots at the park are full.
- Rain: postpones the hike
Liability: The organizer is an uncompensated and untrained volunteer. By joining this event each member accepts full responsibility for knowing their limits, for all injuries, medical issues, assessing safety concerns, material losses and for getting lost. Each member shall release the organizer from all liability and have their guests accept these policies also.
