DISTANCE: 7 MILES out and back (3.5 miles each way)
We will stop for lunch at the Little Jimmy campground. At the summit of Mount Islip, there is the remains of a stone cabin.
STARTING ELEVATION: 6500 feet, SUMMIT 8200 feet, SO GAIN IS ABOUT 1700 FEET
DIFFICULTY: Medium
HIKING POLES ARE RECOMMENDED IF YOU GOT EM

GETTING THERE:
11am: MEETING SPOT FOR CARPOOLING: 2nd street north of 210 freeway on Angeles Crest Highway on the right side (Milmada and Flanders).
12 noon: MEETING SPOT IF YOU ARE DRIVING ALL THE WAY: Drive into the forest on Angeles Crest Highway (HIGHWAY 2) for 40 miles. You will drive through two tunnels and then in a half mile is a wide parking area called Islip Saddle (it also is the intersection with Highway 39 which is closed due to landslides). IT TAKES 1 HOUR TO DRIVE FROM THE 210 FREEWAY TO ISLIP SADDLE PARKING LOT
THERE IS A STINKY RESTROOM AT THE TRAILHEAD

$5 NATIONAL FOREST ADVENTURE PASS IS REQUIRED TO PARK IN THE LOT, BUT NOT REQUIRED IF YOU PARK ALONG THE ROAD
THERE IS NO CELL SERVICE IN THE FOREST SO PRINT OUT ANY DIRECTIONS
BRING LUNCH, SNACKS, AT LEAST 3 LITERS OF WATER, COMFY HIKING SHOES, A HAT, SUNSCREEN..., i'M NOT YOUR MOM, BRING WHATEVER SHE WOULD TELL YOU TO BRING....
