Urban Stair Hike in Eagle Rock/Pasadena, Level: Moderate+

Come join us for a great workout and for meeting new people to do a beautiful urban stair hike in the upscale areas of San Rafael and Poppy Peak in Pasadena! This time we'll do the version that loops through the Eagle Rock hills first.

LEVEL: Intermediate Plus for speed and some inclines, otherwise moderate. We are a friendly group that loves to socialize and encourages new-comers, but please note moderate+ level of cardio fitness and walking speed are required.

LENGTH: 5.2 miles, 11 long staircases up and 4 down. Elevation gain is 950ft; it is harder than it sounds for those that are not used to stairs! +/-2h.

SPEED: Brisk, with a quick pause to re-group at the top of the stairs and steep hills. There will be no sweep, bring your phone for navigation just in case you want to leave early.

BRING: Exercise outfit, workout shoes (no hiking shoes needed) and water. Flashlight, if you have one handy.

MEETING POINT: We meet next to the Habit burger at the intersection of La Loma Rd. and N Figueroa St. at 6pm for introductions. We'll take off promptly at 6.05pm. (If you arrive a few minutes late meet us at Yosemite Dr. and Avoca St.)

RESTROOMS: at Vons or other businesses, please be back by 6.05pm. None along the route.

PARKING: Free street parking on the streets next to the shopping strip. Lot parking at your own risk.

PLEASE NO CRASHING! Urban hikes do not work well with large groups so, unfortunately, space is limited. I "overbook" events in anticipation of some last-minute dropouts, so you cannot assume that those spots will be available. The wait list, if necessary, generally clears in order, but people with good attendance record and a posted picture (LA Hiking Group rule) may get priority.

LIABILITY: The organizer is an untrained and uncompensated volunteer. By joining this event each member accepts full responsibility for knowing their limits, for all injuries and health issues, assessing all risks, for any material losses and for getting lost. Each member agrees to make their guests aware of these policies, also, and release the host from all liability.
