Urban Hike, Glassell Park with Stairs, Moderate +

Join us AT 6:00 PM ** for an evening urban hike that will take us thru the hilly residential areas of Glassell Park, including 3 long staircases all going UP. We will also have an opportunity to swing on the monkey bars, so bring gloves if you need them. It will be dark when we finish, so flashlights are recommended. There will be an option to skip the last staircase for those who would like a break.
LEVEL: Moderate + for BRISK pace, STEEP hills and long staircases. My pace is a bit fast, but will pause briefly at top of hills and stairs to regroup, and to pet doggies.

This is not a beginner hike. You must be able to keep up with the group as there is NO sweep (person who hikes in the back in case you fall behind). If you fall behind and lose sight of the group, please use your GPS to navigate around the neighborhood or return to the start if you want to leave early.
LENGTH: appx 5 miles, 2 hours.
BRING: water, exercise clothes, workout shoes with good tread, flashlight, phone with GPS in case you want to leave, bug repellant(?), The majority of the hike is on asphalt and concrete.
MEETUP PLACE: Super A Foods Market, 2925 Division St, Los Angeles 90065.
MEETUP TIME: 6:00 pm sharp. We have quick introductions and leave promptly at 6:05.
PARKING: Streets surrounding the shopping center -Cypress Ave or W Ave 30. In the past, parking in the shopping center has been fine.
RESTROOMS: In Super A market, you have to ask for a key but sometimes the restroom is out of order. Please be back by 6:00 for the introductions. There will also be a restroom and water opportunity appx 1.5 miles into the hike at the rec center.
LIABILITY: The organizer is an uncompensated and untrained volunteer. By joining this event each member accepts full responsibility for knowing their limits, for all injuries, health issues, material losses, assessing all risks and for getting lost. Each member shall make their guests aware of these policies and releases the host from all liability.
