The waterfall has really been flowing here, more than I have ever seen it. The hike goes up the mostly shaded gabrielino trail, it reminds me of hiking in the eaton canyon area. It passes the gould mesa campground and up to the waterfall. YOUR FEET WILL GET WET:) It is possible to keep your feet dry crossing the streams to gould mesa, but after that there are some pretty wet stream crossings. The hike is about 8 1/2 miles long with 900' of elevation gain. I find poles helpful. The earlier start time beats the heat and the crowds. Dogs are welcome, but small ones may need help with the stream crossings. There is no sweep on this hike, so you'll need to stay with the group or feel comfortable on your own. its a pretty straight forward trail.
