Franklin Canyon Hike

The main road down to this lovely canyon hike and park has finally been repaired coming down from muhlholland drive after being closed for a couple of years from rain damage. This area ia a hidden gem in the middle of civilization! This hike is a moderate hike just under 6 miles and a thousand feet of elevation gain. It will have a bit of everything as we begin the hike. casually going by the duck pond and then into a green canopy oak forest. After being lulled into submission, we do an actual hike up the hastain trail for 1 1/2 miles in an exposed area leading to sweeping coastline views. We head back down to the bottom of franklin canyon where we will take a short snack break, restrooms and water are available. We complete the hike walking up the main shaded road, dropping down to the lake where the Andy Griffith show was filmed.
*There is no hike sweeper so you'll need to keep up with the group or be comfortable on your own.
*Please don't go ahead of me as I lead the hike, we will be making a lot of turns and it makes it hard for me to keep the group together when people race ahead of me.
*Dogs are always welcome on leash and pooped picked up.
*Important!! Make sure you make a complete stop at the imfamous stop sign when driving down from muhlholland dr. You'll make a left turn into the dirt parking lot. They love ticketing incomplete stops!
