Clamshell, Rankin, and Monrovia Peaks Loop - Advanced
Details
Join us for what should be a great adventurous hike up to Monvrovia Peak in the San Gabriel Mountains via Clamshell and Ranking peaks.
(Event is cross posted)
DIFFICULTY: ADVANCED
This is a challenging hike with some very steep sections on a more adventurous trail with little use. Trail may be overgrown in sections. As it is a very long challenging hike it is only appropriate for advanced well-conditioned hikers. To serve the best interest of the group, as well as yourself please make sure this hike is appropriate for your ability level before signing up. If in doubt, please contact me (Stein).
I recommend long pants and long sleeve shirt as well.
THE PLAN:
We'll meet at the intersection of N. Canyon Blvd and Ridgeside Dr. in Monrovia at 8:50 AM and start our hike at 9:00 AM. We will start by going up Ridgeside Dr. to Lower Clamshell TKTL mountain Rd and onto Monrovia Hillside Reserve. We will then head up the trail to Clamshell Peak first before continuing on to Rankin and Monrovia Peaks. After Monrovia peak, we will go down to The Rincon-Shortcut OHV Trail Mountain Rd and then Follow Upper Clamshell Truck Trail and Monrovia Canyon Truck Trail down to Ben Overturff trail which we will follow for a couple of miles. We'll get back on Monrovia Canyon Truck Trail and continue back down into Monrovia Canyon Park and back to the cars.
You can read more about it on AllTrails, although we are doing the loop clockwise, not counterclockwise as indicated there:

Note: I have never done this entire hike before myself so for a significant portion of it, I am not sure what we will encouter.

NO SHOWS:

For this event you need to change your RSVP to "No" minimum 45 minutes before the start of the event. If you have multiple no-shows on your record you will be considered unreliable and may not be admitted to certain events and when there are people on the waiting list.
