Urban Hill Hike in South Pasadena, Level: Moderate+
Details
Come join us for a good workout, for meeting new people and for exploring unique neighborhoods to do an urban hike in the hilliest part of South Pasadena, one of the most upscale neighborhoods in NELA.
We'll be traveling through winding hill roads, a few staircases and some secret pathways. We'll get to enjoy pretty green streets, beautiful houses and great views.
LEVEL: Intermediate Plus for length and the speed. The route itself is moderate, no extreme climbs or rough paths. We are a friendly group that encourages newcomers, but please note that moderate+ cardio fitness and fast walking speed are required.
LENGTH: 6.5 miles, 1100 ft elevation gain. Two sets of stairs. 2 1/4-2 1/2 hours.
SPEED: Brisk, faster than most moderate hikes, but a touch slower than Steve's advanced speed hikes. We'll take a few short breaks at the top of the hills to regroup. There will be no sweep; bring a phone map just in case you want to leave early.
BRING: Workout clothing and water. Tennis shoes are OK (no hiking shoes are needed; we are almost all on pavement).
MEETING SPOT: We will meet at 6pm for introductions and take off sharply at 6.05pm. (If you are a few minutes late drive to the intersection of Hill Dr. and Oak Hill Pl. to catch us)
PARKING: Free, unlimited street parking. DON'T FULLY TRUST THE NAVIGATION LINK. DEPENDING ON YOUR PHONR AND APP IT MAY SLIGHTLY OFF. CHECK THE MAP BEFORE PARKING!
RESTROOMS: None, possible Port-a-potties along the way.
LIABILITY: The organizer is an unpaid and untrained volunteer. By joining this event each member accepts full responsibility for knowing their limits, for all injuries and health issues, assessing risks, for material losses and for getting lost. Each member agrees to make their guests aware of this, also, and release the host from all liability.
